2023 NFL Free Agency: Jaguars Set to Re-Sign CB Tevaughn Campbell After spending most of the 2022 season with the Jaguars, it appears Tevaughn Campbell will return in 2023.

Re-signs with Jaguars The Jaguars re-signed Campbell to a one-year contract Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Impact Campbell wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent but is still going back to Jacksonville for 2023. He appeared in just five games last season, seeing a total of 41 snaps on defense and special teams.

Impact Campbell signed with the Jaguars on Thursday following the placement of Shaquill Griffin (back) on injured reserve. Campbell will remain out for Week 8 as he presumably tries to learn his new team's playbook. The undrafted defensive back appeared in 30 contests over the last two campaigns with the Chargers, but he's yet to play in a game this season.

Impact Campbell's signing comes one day after Jacksonville placed Shaquill Griffin (back) on IR. The 29-year-old was waived from injured reserve by the Chargers in September after playing in 16 games for them last season. Campbell finished the 2021 season having recorded 40 tackles, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown. Campbell will likely shore up the depth in the Jaguars' secondary, although he could earn a bigger role as he adapts to his new team.

Impact Coach Brandon Staley said Campbell is dealing with a "soft tissue" injury and suggested he's day-to-day. The 29-year-old corner appeared in 16 games and recorded 40 tackles in 2021 and figures to provide depth to an already-strong Chargers secondary once he returns.

Impact Campbell's absence in the Chargers' Week 16 loss to the Texans was his first of the season. With several other starters in the defensive backfield still on the COVID list, his return will certainly be welcomed.

Impact According to Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times, head coach Brandon Staley labeled Campbell as day-to-day, which would seem to suggest that the 28-year-old cornerback is on the list as a vaccinated player that tested positive for the virus. Per the NFL's new COVID-19 protocols, Campbell will be eligible to rejoin the team as soon as he's deemed to be asymptomatic. Campbell thus has an outside shot of gaining clearance prior to Sunday's game against the Texans. He's appeared in all 14 of the Chargers' games to date, logging 40 tackles, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
