Waived by New Orleans The Saints waived Brown on Sunday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact Brown was waived not long after fellow kicker Charlie Smyth. The two moves leave Daniel Carlson as the Saints' starting kicker headed into Week 1 against the Lions. Brown will now be subject to waivers, and if he remains unclaimed will become a free agent able to sign with any team that is looking to incite a kicking competition.

Impact Brown most recently spent time with the Falcons' practice squad in 2024, but he's now agreed to terms with the Saints. The Oklahoma State product has yet to make an NFL appearance after converting 22 of 23 field-goal attempts and all 42 of his point-after tries across 12 games during his final collegiate season in 2022. He's expected to compete with Charlie Smyth for New Orleans' top kicker spot ahead of the 2026 season.

That could change in Week 3 due to Joshua Karty dealing with a groin injury; however, the rookie kicker is expected to be fine for Sunday's game against the 49ers. If Karty were to suffer a setback though, Brown would likely be elevated to handle the job.

Impact Brown was thought to be the Rams' opening day kicker, but he was let go after he made only four of his seven field-goal attempts in three preseason games. Los Angeles dealt with some kicking problems throughout the year (third-lowest conversion rate on field-goal attempts in the NFL) and Brown will likely have the opportunity to compete for the Rams' top kicker next season.
