Impact Williams signed to the Steelers' practice squad at the end of August after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. However, he was added to the 53-man roster Sept. 18, and across his six regular-season appearances between Week 3 and 8, Williams played 104 snaps on special teams and five on offense. Assuming he clears waivers, Williams will look to catch on with a team in need of a tight end who can contribute on special teams.

Impact Williams has been a member of the Steelers' franchise for the majority of the last two seasons, spending much of 2022 on the practice squad, while suiting up for 13 regular-season games in 2023. However, those games didn't lead to much offensive production, seeing just two targets with neither being able to be hauled in. With MyCole Pruitt (knee) currently iffy for Week 3, Williams may see himself on the field again Sunday against the Chargers.

Impact Williams failed to make the Steelers' initial 53-man roster Tuesday, but he's sticking around in Pittsburgh after signing with the team's practice squad Thursday. The UT Martin product played 186 special-teams snaps across 13 outings with the Steelers last season, so he could definitely be elevated to the active roster at some point this year.

Impact Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indicated Saturday that Williams will be out for "days," so the tight end could miss numerous practices and may not be ready for Pittsburgh's first preseason contest Aug. 9 versus Houston. Impact Williams signed with Denver as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee Martin, though he was waived in mid-August after three months with the team. The 24-year-old then signed with Pittsburgh's practice squad Sept. 13. Williams will now compete for a chance to make his NFL debut heading into the 2023 campaign.
