Signed to active roster by Seattle The Seahawks signed Thomas from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Impact Despite being signed to the practice squad, Thomas was elevated to the 53-man roster versus New England in Week 1 and Arizona in Week 2. In those two games, the 28-year-old accumulated four total tackles (three solo) and two passes defended while appearing in nearly all of Seattle's defensive snaps. With Ty Okadah (hamstring) sidelined, Thomas could continue to see routine action for the foreseeable future.

Cut loose by Indianapolis The Colts released Thomas (hand) on Monday, per the NFL's transaction report.

Impact Thomas logged six tackles (two solo) and one pass defense across two preseason games for the Seahawks, though he missed the team's 19-16 loss to the Titans on Aug. 23 due to a hand injury. He did not crack the Seahawks' 53-man roster for the upcoming season, though he could remain in Seattle as a member of the team's practice squad or explore his options elsewhere. Thomas, a 2022 seventh-round pick out of Yale, spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Colts, appearing in all 68 regular-season games in that span. He finished the 2025 regular season with 21 tackles (14 solo) across 17 games while contributing on both defense and special teams.

Might be back soon Thomas (hand) might be able to play in Seattle's preseason game versus Kansas City on Aug. 28, Brady Henderson of ESPN reports.

Impact The safety missed the Seahawks' preseason loss to the Titans on Sunday after having surgery during the week leading up to the game, per Henderson. Thomas has a chance at a roster spot if he can return soon, especially after rookie second-round pick Bud Clark broke his right ankle against Tennessee. Thomas can also add value on special teams, as he's played on at least 125 snaps there in all four of his NFL seasons.

Heading to Seattle Thomas and the Seahawks agreed to terms on a one-year contract Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Impact Thomas will call Seattle his home for the first time in his NFL career after spending the last four seasons with the Colts. He was a key part of the Colts' secondary in the two years after being selected in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. However, Thomas saw less defensive snaps over the last two years and more work on special teams, and he finished the 2025 regular season with 21 tackles (14 solo) across 17 games. He'll likely see most of his snaps on special teams in Seattle but would be in line for more snaps in the secondary if one or both of Ty Okada and Julian Love were to miss time.
