REPORT: Patriots Interested in Trading for Panthers WR Robby Anderson Carolina may move on from Robby Anderson after two seasons.
MARCH 5, 2022 • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Report: Panthers, Patriots have discussed trade for WR Robby Anderson According to Boston Sports Journal, the Panthers have talked to the Patriots about a trade for WR Robby Anderson.

Robby Anderson heads Panthers' list of returning players who need to be better If the Panthers are going to win more in 2022, they also need Christian McCaffrey healthy and Derrick Brown making more of an impact.

Touchdown to end season Anderson caught seven of eight targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Buccaneers.
Impact Anderson matched his season high in receptions, with his signature contribution coming on a superb, over-the-shoulder touchdown catch from 19 yards on a fourth-down play during the fourth quarter. Despite his commendable performance Sunday, Anderson's season overall didn't go as planned, as uneven quarterback play, primarily from Sam Darnold, inhibited Carolina's offense over the course of the campaign. While playing all 17 games, Anderson managed just 53 catches on 110 targets for 519 yards and five scores, representing a significant decline from his 95-catch, 1,000-yard campaign in 2020. Having signed an extension prior to the season, though, Anderson is slated to return to the Panthers in 2022, when as things stand he'll again figure to complement DJ Moore in the starting lineup.

Suiting up Week 18 Anderson (quadriceps) is active for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The veteran speedster will thus mark the fourth consecutive absence-free campaign of his career. Despite that accomplishment, it's been an otherwise frustrating season for Anderson while dealing with very spotty quarterback play, as he enters Sunday's finale with a pedestrian 46-469-4 line, the yardage tally qualifying as a career-low figure.
JANUARY 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Game-time call for finale Anderson (quadriceps) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay, with Panthers coach Matt Rhule labeling the wideout as a game-time decision after he missed practice...
Impact For all that's gone wrong this season, Anderson has at least managed to stay on the field, hitting the 16-game mark for a fifth time in six pro seasons. Production has been another story of course, though he did have one of his better games (relatively speaking) when the Panthers faced the Bucs two weeks ago, catching five of 10 targets for 58 yards. Anderson then dropped back to 10 yards on two target in last week's loss to the Saints, and he's now in danger of missing the season finale, potentially leaving more work for Brandon Zylstra and Alex Erickson. Rookie wideout Terrace Marshall (foot) is on injured reserve, while Shi Smith landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday. The Panthers are scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.

Week 18 Final Injury Report: Robby Anderson questionable Defensive tackle Derrick Brown is also questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
JANUARY 7, 2022 • PANTHERS.COM
Tending to quad injury Anderson didn't practice Wednesday due to a quadriceps injury.
Impact If Anderson was hurt in this past Sunday's loss at New Orleans, it wasn't evident in his workload, as he was on the field for 98 percent of Carolina's offensive plays on his way to hauling in both of his targets for 10 yards. With a health concern now in tow, his activity level will be something to watch Thursday and Friday to get a sense of his potential to play Week 18 at Tampa Bay.
JANUARY 5, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Just two grabs Anderson caught both of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 18-10 loss to the Saints.
Impact Anderson was decent in quarterback Sam Darnold's return last week, but Sunday's performance reverted to his prior standard with Darnold under center this season. The wideout was hardly involved as Carolina failed to threaten downfield, resulting in Anderson's seventh game with under 20 receiving yards this term. He'll strive to at least finish the campaign on a positive note in Week 18 versus the Buccaneers, when game flow might result in more opportunities to make plays.

Five catches in loss Anderson brought in five of 10 targets for 58 yards in the Panthers' 32-6 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Impact Anderson drew even with DJ Moore for the team lead in receptions while pacing the Panthers in receiving yardage as well. The speedster was partly hamstrung by the inefficient play of both Cam Newton and Sam Darnold under center, but he at least extended what has been a reasonably productive late-season stretch. Factoring in Sunday's production, Anderson now has 15 receptions (30 targets) for 171 yards and a touchdown over the last three games, giving him some modest momentum ahead of a Week 17 road matchup against the Saints.

Panthers' Rhule 'can't speculate' on next week's starting QB

Cam Newton’s struggles have left Matt Rhule looking for answers at quarterback
DECEMBER 20, 2021 • Associated Press
Inefficient again Anderson caught three passes for 29 yards on eight targets and ran for 33 yards on two carries against Buffalo on Sunday.
Impact It might not all be Anderson's fault -- the quarterback play for Carolina in 2021 has been bad at best -- but the fact is Anderson is in the midst of a legendarily inefficient season. With this game in the books Anderson now has just 39 catches for 401 yards and four touchdowns on 89 targets, meaning he has caught just 43.8 percent of his targets at 4.5 yards per target. Those numbers hardly seem possible, and they're discouraging to the point that it's difficult to hold any hope for Anderson with the Buccaneers up next.

Huge draft day decision on horizon for Panthers: QB or OT?

The slumping Carolina Panthers appear destined to have a top 10 pick in next year’s NFL draft
DECEMBER 13, 2021 • Associated Press
Best performance of season Anderson brought in seven of 12 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' 29-21 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
Impact The veteran speedster finally had what could be considered a breakout game by his lowly 2021 standards, with both his reception and receiving yardage totals serving as season highs. Anderson also got into the end zone for the second time in the last four games when he recorded a five-yard touchdown grab from P.J. Walker with 3:11 remaining. Anderson's first opportunity to build on his momentum comes in a difficult Week 15 road matchup against the Bills.
DECEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Sees downturn in production Anderson brought in one of four targets for 15 yards in the Panthers' 33-10 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
Impact A week after recording five receptions in the first start of Cam Newton's second tenure with the Panthers, Anderson saw a disappointing downturn. It's been an undeniably underwhelming year for the speedster overall, and unless Newton significantly picks up his play, Anderson will continue to have an uphill battle to a serviceable fantasy line during a Week 14 home matchup against the Falcons following a Week 13 bye.

Newton stays positive after loss on 'resurrection day'

Catches five passes Anderson caught five of six targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 27-21 loss to Washington.
Impact Anderson trailed only tailback Christian McCaffrey in receptions, tying fellow wideout DJ Moore with his handful of grabs. Although his long gain was only 11 yards, it was good to see Anderson's involvement increase in quarterback Cam Newton's first start. The wideout matched his season-high in catches Sunday, bringing his tally to nine over the past two weeks, an encouraging sign after managing just one in the two weeks prior. Next up for Anderson is a matchup against a familiar foe in the Dolphins in Week 12.
