Buccaneers could focus on bolstering their defense through the draft

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers addressed some needs in free agency without making a big splash, signing several veteran players
APRIL 15 • Associated Press
Back with Bucs Tampa Bay signed Nunez-Roches (ankle) to a one-year contract Friday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches previously played for the Buccaneers from 2018 to 2022 before signing a three-year contract with the Giants ahead of the 2023 campaign. The veteran defensive lineman ended last year on IR due to an ankle issue and played in just nine games overall -- his fewest since 2018 -- but is presumably past the injury. Nunez-Roches could compete for a starting role next season following the departure of Logan Hall and with Greg Gaines, who is a free agent, uncertain to return.
APRIL 4 • ROTOWIRE
Lands on IR Nunez-Roches (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches has missed the last four games with the ankle injury and had already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. He appeared in only nine games and managed 23 total tackles with 3.0 sacks in 2025.
JANUARY 4 • ROTOWIRE
Ruled out for Week 18 Nunez-Roches (ankle/toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches ended Week 18 prep with a DNP on Friday and will end up missing the last four games of the regular season due to ankle and toe injures. The veteran defensive lineman will finish the 2025 regular season with 23 tackles (six solo), including 3.0 sacks, and one pass defense across nine games. Nunez-Roches will be a free agent once the 2026 offseason commences.
JANUARY 3 • ROTOWIRE
Limited to open Week 18 prep Nunez-Roches (ankle/toe) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Matt Citak of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez has missed the Giants' last three games due to ankle and toe injuries, but he's started Week 18 prep on the right foot with a limited practice. He'll have two more opportunities to increase his practice participation and potentially avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's regular-season finale against the Cowboys.
DECEMBER 31, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Inactive with ankle issue Nunez-Roches (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches will miss his third consecutive game with persistent ankle and toe injuries. Darius Alexander is set to start at defensive end opposite Chauncey Golston yet again as the 2-13 Giants square off against the 2-13 Raiders in a game that will likely decide the No. 1 overall pick.
DECEMBER 28, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Could return Sunday Nunez-Roches (ankle/toe) has been deemed questionable for Sunday's Week 17 clash against Las Vegas.
Impact Nunez-Roches has missed New York's past two games while managing ankle and toe injuries. He logged an LP/DNP/LP practice progression this week and has been given a chance of returning to action Sunday. Nunez-Roches has made five starts across the nine games he's been been healthy enough to play in this season.
DECEMBER 26, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Deemed DNP on Thursday Nunez-Roches (ankle) is estimated as a non-participant on Thursday's practice report, per Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site.
Impact Nunez-Roches was limited at practice Wednesday, and it's unclear why he was downgraded on Thursday's practice estimation. The veteran defensive lineman has missed each of New York's past two contests because of an ankle injury. Darius Alexander has been seeing a bit more defensive snaps during that span.
DECEMBER 25, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Limited to open Week 17 prep Nunez-Roches (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches has missed the Giants' last two games due to an ankle injury, but his ability to return to practice Wednesday indicates that he is progressing in his recovery. He would avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Raiders if he were to practice in full by Friday.
DECEMBER 25, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play Sunday Nunez-Roches (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Vikings, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roaches was unable to practice all week and is now in line to miss his second consecutive game due to an ankle injury, While the 32-year-old remains sidelined Sunday, Darius Alexander is likely to have an expanded role on the Giants' first-team defensive line.
DECEMBER 19, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Misses practice Wednesday Nunez-Roches (ankle) did not participate at practice Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches was unavailable for the team's Week 15 loss to the Commanders as he nursed an ankle injury, and he has now opened the week on the sidelines at practice. The defensive tackle didn't practice at all last week, and he'll have two more chances to get back out on the field prior to Sunday's matchup with Minnesota.
DECEMBER 18, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Ruled out for Sunday Nunez-Roches (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, Matt Citak of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches was unable to practice at all this week due to an ankle injury he likely sustained over the team's Week 14 bye. The loss of the starting defensive end means rookie third-rounder Darius Alexander will likely see an increased snap share on the edge.
DECEMBER 12, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
No practice Wednesday Nunez-Roches (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Matt Citak of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches wasn't listed on New York's injury report prior to the team's Week 13 loss to the Patriots, so he may have suffered his ankle injury during the team's Week 14 bye. If Nunez-Roches isn't healthy enough to play Sunday versus the Commanders, rookie third-round pick Darius Alexander will inherit an expanded role on defense.
DECEMBER 10, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Past toe injury Nunez-Roches (toe) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Lions, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact The 32-year-old practiced in a limited fashion all week due to a toe injury, but it appears he'll play through the issue in the Week 12 matchup. Nunez-Roches has appeared in seven games this season, recording 20 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and one pass defensed. He's expected to play as one of New York's top interior defensive linemen in Sunday's contest.
NOVEMBER 21, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to limited practice Nunez-Roches (toe) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches missed the Giants' Week 11 loss with the same toe injury. He appears to have a chance to return in Week 12, though his practice participation in the next two days should provide additional clarity.
NOVEMBER 20, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Unable to suit up Week 11 Nunez-Roches is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Packers due to a toe injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches couldn't complete last Sunday's loss to the Bears after hurting his toe, and he didn't practice at all this week. After entering the weekend deemed doubtful to play, the veteran defensive tackle has been officially ruled out. Darius Alexander could step into a starting role in Nunez-Roches' stead.
NOVEMBER 16, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Doubtful for Week 11 Nunez-Roches (toe) is listed as doubtful ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Packers.
Impact The 32-year-old sustained a toe injury in the Week 10 loss to the Bears and didn't practice all week, so it's no surprise that he'll likely be sidelined Sunday. If Nunez-Roches is out in Week 11 as expected, Darius Alexander will likely to start opposite Roy Robertson-Harris on the Giants' defensive line.
NOVEMBER 14, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Still dealing with toe issue Nunez-Roches (toe) was estimated to be a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches suffered the toe injury in Sunday's loss to the Bears. The Giants only held a walkthrough, so his status for Week 11 should become clearer as the week progresses.
NOVEMBER 13, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with toe injury Nunez-Roches has a toe injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bears, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The defensive lineman had one tackle before exiting. Darius Alexander should be next in line to replace him.

Cleared to return Week 5 Nunez-Roches (foot) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Saints.
Impact Nunez-Roches was a limited participant in practice all week, and he has been given the green light to play after missing the Giants' last three games due to a foot injury. He may not see a heavy snap count in his return, but his presence might mean less playing time on defense for Elijah Garcia, Darius Alexander and D.J. Davidson, though Dexter Lawrence is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest due to an illness that prevented him from practicing all week.

Won't play Week 4 Nunez-Roches (foot) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Nunez-Roches drew the doubtful injury tag after logging a DNP-DNP-LP practice log this past week, so it's no surprise that the 2015 sixth-rounder will be sidelined for Sunday's contest. It'll be the third consecutive game he'll miss due to a foot injury that he suffered in Week 1 against the Commanders, and he'll shift his focus on making his return for Week 5 against the Saints on Sunday, Oct. 5. Elijah Garcia, Darius Alexander and D.J. Davidson will all continue to see increased work on the defensive line in Nunez-Roches' absence.
