Targeted in win Brown received one target in Sunday's 27-25 win over Jacksonville.

Impact Brown saw added competition for snaps Sunday with the return of Jordan Akins, who had missed three contests with a concussion and ankle injury. He finished second among the position group with 25 snaps, behind Darren Fells (33) and ahead of Akins (22), but Akins should receive a greater share going forward. Brown's caught three of four targets for 32 yards in six games.

Impact Brown stepped in for the injured Jordan Akins (concussion, ankle) for the second straight week and played 30 snaps (42 percent), similar to last week's usage. One of his catches came in the red zone, his first such target of the season. Akins was a limited participant in practice last week before being declared inactive for Sunday, so he may be nearing a return, which would relegate Brown to third on the depth chart.

Impact Brown's stay on the PUP list lasted just over one week as the reserve tight end passed his physical. The 26-year-old will need to string together an impressive training camp in order to earn a roster spot, particularly with Austin Hooper, David Njoku and Harrison Bryant locked in atop the positional group.

Impact In addition to signing Austin Hooper to the most expensive contract for a tight end earlier this offseason, Cleveland invested a fourth-round pick into rookie Harrison Bryant during April's draft. As a result, Brown looks firmly situated behind at least three other options in the team's tight end room, leaving him to tentatively compete for a sole depth role left up for grabs. That said, new coach Kevin Stefanski did utilize multiple tight ends at the highest rate in the league last season (57 percent), per Trotter, so Cleveland could be motivated to utilized a larger than standard amount of players at the position.
