Sustains Week 15 foot injury Ford (foot) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Titans.

Impact Detroit's depth in the secondary will be depleted for the remainder of the afternoon should Ford prove unable to return, as the Lions find themselves in a tightly contested game in the second half. Ford garnered a season-high 24 defensive snaps last Sunday in a loss to Green Bay after fielding a combined 14 snaps on the defensive side over his first five appearances of the year. Injuries to Jeff Okudah (groin), Desmond Trufant (hamstring) and Darryl Roberts (hip) had already depleted Detroit's depth chart on the back end coming into Week 15.

Cleared from injury Ford (back) was absent from Wednesday's injury report, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Impact Ford was forced out of last week's win over the Bears with the back issue and never returned. This news suggests he's on track to return for Sunday's game against the Packers, where he'll likely assume his usual depth corner role while playing snaps on special teams.

Exits Sunday's contest Ford was removed from Sunday's win over the Bears with a back injury.

Impact The 25-year-old was considered questionable to return but never appeared to retake the field. Ford finished the contest with two tackles and should have his status updated once the Lions return to practice later this week.

Good to go Sunday Ford (concussion) won't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game versus the Bears.

Impact Meanwhile, Jeff Okudah (shoulder) has been ruled out, and Desmond Trufant (hamstring) has been placed on IR. If Darryl Roberts (hip) isn't activated by Saturday afternoon, Ford will handle a significant workload in Sunday's divisional contest. Justin Coleman and Amani Oruwariye are expected to start either way.

Can't play Thursday Ford (concussion) is ruled out for Thursday's game against the Texans, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Impact Ford won't be eligible to retake the field until he fully clears the league's five-step concussion protocol. His contributions are generally relegated to special teams, so his absence won't significantly impact the Lions' defensive scheme.

Out with possible concussion Ford exited Sunday's game against the Panthers to be evaluated for a concussion.

Impact Ford had one tackle before his exit was announced early in the second half. The 25-year-old will need to clear the concussion protocol before returning to the field if the concussion is confirmed.

Back to full workload in practice Ford (hip) was a full practice participant Thursday after being limited Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Impact The Southeast Missouri State standout has made two appearances for the Lions thus far this season, with Week 9's workload of 17 special-teams snaps constituting his greatest involvement of the 2020 campaign. A leg injury kept Ford on injured reserve between Sept. 9 and Oct. 14, with a Week 7 appearance against the Falcons marking his season debut. Ford has yet to field a snap on the defensive side for Detroit this season, after registering a combined six starts at cornerback between 2018 and 2019.

Shifts to active roster The Lions activated Ford (leg) from injured reserve Saturday.

Impact Ford has practiced for two weeks without a setback, and he'll return to the lineup Sunday against the Falcons. The 25-year-old cornerback is in line for his season debut, but due to the offseason reinforcements at the position, it's unlikely that Ford plays much on defense.

Eligible to return from IR Ford (leg) returned to practice Wednesday, opening the 21-day window to remove him from IR.

Impact Ford could play as soon as Week 6 against the Jaguars if he looks good in practice, but he will need to spend the entirety of the 2020 season on IR if the Lions opt not activate him within the next three weeks.

OCTOBER 14, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Shifts to IR The Lions placed Ford (leg) on injured reserve Sunday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Ford suffered the leg injury during practice Aug. 28 and the injury appears serious. Ford could return during the season, but even if he returns, he'll likely stick to a special teams role for 2020.
