Parts ways with Texans Houston waived Hansen on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Hansen joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent in early June and saw action in two preseason contests, catching both of his targets for seven yards. Per Wilson, Hansen made a positive impression during training camp and has a chance to be a part of Houston's practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Signs with Houston The Texans signed Hansen to a contract Sunday.

Impact Hansen's signing likely comes to solidify the tight end room after Brevin Jordan (knee) suffered an injury during last Friday's training camp session. Hansen is a depth signing who will get a few reps in the remaining preseason games before likely being dropped on cutdown day. The tight end's first chance to make an impact will be Thursday's contest against the Raiders.

Impact The tight end was let go to make room for wide receiver DJ Turner. Hansen signed with Houston in June after playing three collegiate seasons at Connecticut, making 46 catches for 463 and four touchdowns in 40 games.

Impact The rookie tight end out of Connecticut is getting his first chance in the pros with the Texans. As a junior with the Huskies back in 2024, Hansen hauled in 24 receptions for 236 yards and four touchdowns.
