Impact Larison suffered the injury during his two-yard touchdown run at the 3:25 mark in the fourth quarter of Friday's preseason win over the Commanders. He was seen in a walking boot after the game, and after undergoing further tests, the undrafted rookie out of UC Davis will miss the entire 2025 season. The Patriots signed running back Deneric Prince to the roster in a corresponding move.

Impact Larison went back to the locker room shortly after scoring the Patriots' final touchdown of the game at the 3:25 mark in the fourth quarter, per Zack Cox of the Boston Herald. The walking boot might be a precautionary measure and he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, but the undrafted rookie is in danger of missing the Patriots' second preseason contest against the Vikings on Saturday, Aug. 16. Larison finished Friday's game with seven carries for 35 yards and two catches on as many targets for nine yards.

Impact Larison did it all at UC Davis in 2024, setting a school record with 2,387 all-purpose yards, including 1,465 on the ground and 874 as a receiver. He scored 17 rushing touchdowns and added six receiving scores, but those contributions weren't enough to attract the attention of any NFL front offices during the 2025 NFL Draft. Assuming his signing with New England is made official, Larison will compete for a roster spot in a backfield that added 2025 second-round draft pick TreVeyon Henderson to incumbent veterans Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson.
