Let go by Pittsburgh The Steelers cut Perine from the practice squad Tuesday.

Impact Perine caught on with the Steelers' practice squad Oct. 1 after being let go by the Packers on Sept. 10. The 2020 fourth-round pick will explore his options and look to sign with a team in need of running back depth. Perine appeared in five regular-season games for the Chiefs in 2023, accumulating 22 carries for 77 yards and three catches (on five targets) for 33 yards over that span.

Impact Perine inked a one-year deal with the Steelers in May, but he was unable to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He opted to sign with the Packers' practice squad, but was let go by Green Bay on Sept. 10. Now in Pittsburgh, Perine adds depth to the Steelers' backfield, and he could be called up for Week 5 against the Cowboys if one or both of Jaylen Warren (knee) or Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) cannot play.

Impact Perine signed a one-year contract with the Steelers in May, but he wasn't particularly efficient during Friday's preseason opener. Impact Perine did not play in any game during the 2022 regular season, but the Chiefs saw fit to bring him onto their practice squad ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game. As long as Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Ronald Jones remain healthy though, Perine is a long shot to be elevated.
