INJURIES

Inactive for second straight week Vaughn (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Impact With the three veteran running backs ahead of Vaughn on the depth chart (Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy) all healthy again, the Buccaneers won't have room for the rookie in their weekly game plans. Inactive for a second straight game, Vaughn will need an injury to one of the aforementioned three backs before he recaptures even a small role on offense.

Not playing Sunday Vaughn (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Saints.
Impact Vaughn hasn't got much run this season, with veteran presences like Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy ahead of him on the depth chart. In fact, Vaughn has played exclusively special teams the past two games. With Vaughn in street clothes Sunday, the Buccaneers will roll with the aforementioned trio out of their backfield.
NOVEMBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
No offensive work on MNF Vaughn garnered three special-teams snaps but no offensive snaps during Monday's 25-23 win against the Giants.
Impact The third-round rookie collected 12 combined touches between Weeks 4 and 6, notching eight rush attempts for 46 yards along with four receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown. With Leonard Fournette back to full strength the past two weeks, however, Vaughn has seen his offensive role evaporate. It's not a favorable Week 9 matchup for Tampa Bay backs going up against New Orleans' No. 3 rush defense, but it is expected to be Ronald Jones and Fournette who command virtually all of the RB workload in a crucial NFC South bout.
NOVEMBER 4, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
No offensive work against Raiders Vaughn did not play a single offensive snap during Sunday's 45-20 win against Las Vegas.
Impact With Leonard Fournette fielding 11 carries behind Ronald Jones' team high of 13, the rookie back was afforded no offensive opportunities during Week 7. Vaughn racked up 42 rushing yards on five carries against Green Bay during a Week 6 rout, but with both veteran backs healthy against Las Vegas, the Vanderbilt product was limited to special-teams usage only. Unless Tampa Bay's Week 8 road trip to face the Giants becomes a one-sided affair, Vaughn will likely be relegated to an obsolete role in the offense.
OCTOBER 27, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Efficient in limited action Vaugh rushed five times for 42 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Buccaneers' 38-10 win over the Packers on Sunday.
Impact With the contest well in hand by the latter part of the fourth quarter, coach Bruce Arians went heavy on reserves and gave Vaughn some run to finish off the rout. The rookie impressed with a 19-yard scamper and was efficient by gaining 23 yards on his four other carries as well. Vaughn's usage is sporadic, as he logged the first three carries of his career two games ago, failed to log any rush attempts but saw three targets in Week 5, and then bounced back with his highest number of rushing touches yet Sunday. The encouraging performance in the waning minutes against the Packers aside, fantasy managers should be mindful that a Leonard Fournette (ankle) return in a Week 7 road battle versus the Raiders would likely send Vaughn back to a minuscule role.
OCTOBER 19, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Avoids injury report Vaughn (chest) isn't listed on Wednesday's injury report.
Impact Vaughn was forced out of last Thursday's loss to the Bears due to a chest injury, but he already looks to be back to full health. However, both Leonard Fournette (ankle) and LeSean McCoy (ankle) resumed practicing in a limited capacity Wednesday, so Vaughn could end up back in a depth role Week 6 in spite of his full availability.
OCTOBER 14, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Disappointing night in Week 5 loss Vaughn (chest) finished Thursday night's 20-19 loss to the Bears with zero carries and two receptions (three targets) for five yards. He also lost a fumble.
Impact Vaughn exited the game after getting injured on a play in which he fumbled at his own 26-yard-line following a short catch with 1:37 remaining in the first half. The Bears went on to score on a 12-yard grab by Jimmy Graham with 36 seconds remaining, and Vaughn did return in the second half but didn't see the field much. The rookie should have his status updated in coming days, with the Buccaneers having some extra time before a Week 6 matchup against the Packers on Sunday, Oct. 18.
OCTOBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable to return Vaughn is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Bears as he deals with a chest injury.
Impact Vaughn went back to the locker room just ahead of halftime to get checked out. Should he not be able to return, look for Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette to handle the workload as the only two remaining backs on the active roster.
OCTOBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Heads to locker room early Vaughn was forced out of Thursday's game against the Bears late in the second quarter, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Vaughn went to the locker room after receiving a hit by Kyle Fuller just before halftime, so the Buccaneers will have ample time to evaluate him before the third quarter begins. Aside from Vaughn, the only depth option active for Tampa Bay behind top running back Ronald Jones is Leonard Fournette, who is only present as an emergency option.

Expanded Week 5 role on tap Vaughn, who logged the first three carries of his career and also notched a receiving touchdown in a Week 4 win over the Chargers, is likely to see an expanded role in Thursday's g...
Impact The rookie made his noise through the air against the Chargers with his key touchdown grab, but Thursday could see him assume a more prominent role on the ground. Vaughn's NFL career got off to an inauspicious start, as he logged zero snaps in Weeks 1 and 2 before serving as a healthy scratch in Week 3. However, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports Vaughn has been mentally prepared for his opportunity since training camp with encouragement from head coach Bruce Arians, who emphasized to Vaughn "your time's going to come" early on when he was essentially fourth on the depth chart. For his part, Vaughn drew on his college experience at Illinois, where he also was forced to wait out his opportunity. "For the most part, I was just sitting back and taking it in, taking advantage of not just being thrown in the fire ASAP," said Vaughn. "[I was] just staying patient, taking advantage of being able to practice without playing, if that makes sense. I got to work on my craft at practice."

First action as a pro Vaughn carried three times for four yards and brought in two of three targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 38-31 win over the Chargers on Sunday.
Impact The rookie logged the first five touches of his NFL career and emerged from the contest with a souvenir, as he scored the go-ahead touchdown for the Buccaneers on an early fourth-quarter nine-yard reception that he capped off by lowering his shoulder to get past the goal line. Vaughn played on 19 snaps overall (25 percent) with Leonard Fournette (ankle) sidelined for the contest and LeSean McCoy exiting Sunday's game early with an ankle injury of his own. With the Buccaneers on a short week ahead of a Thursday night road matchup against the Bears, it's possible Vaughn is called on to continue serving as Ronald Jones' primary backup for that contest.

Ready to replace Fournette? Coach Bruce Arians said Vaughn is "more than ready" to join the Bucs' backfield mix with Leonard Fournette (ankle) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Scott Smith of...
Impact Fournette is averaging 8.0 carries and 2.7 targets per game on 30 percent snap share, albeit with a big chunk of his production coming in the fourth quarter of a Week 2 win over Carolina. Some of the vacated snaps and touches could go to Ronald Jones, but it sounds like the Bucs are prepping their rookie third-round pick for at least a small role in the Week 4 gameplan. With a Thursday contest against the Bears on tap next week, Vaughn could have a couple chances to fill in for Fournette in the Tampa backfield. Apart from five snaps on special teams Week 2, the rookie hasn't seen any playing time in the NFL yet.
OCTOBER 2, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Healthy scratch Week 3 Vaughn (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 3 tilt against the Broncos, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official website reports.
Impact Vaughn had been in uniform but idle over the first two games, and with Kenjon Barner getting promoted from the practice squad Saturday, the rookie will now don street clothes for the first time in his short career. Vaughn's chances of seeing his first NFL action seem remote for the time being with Buccaneers' robust running back group at full health.
SEPTEMBER 27, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Doesn't see field Week 2 Vaughn did not log any snaps for the second straight game in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Panthers.
Impact The rookie running back unsurprisingly remains behind the top trio of Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy, and given all three have a role in the offense at the moment, Vaughn could remain on the outside looking in for the foreseeable future.
SEPTEMBER 22, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
No action in opener Vaughn was active for Sunday's 34-23 loss to the Saints but did not log an offensive snap.
Impact Coach Bruce Arians had his full stable of running backs in uniform against New Orleans, but the workload decidedly tilted in the direction of top option Ronald Jones, with Leonard Fournette playing a distant second in terms of touches at the position. Factoring in LeSean McCoy also saw 25 snaps, it's clear there wasn't room for Vaughn to see action in a game that also progressively made the ground attack obsolete as it unfolded. Vaughn may be stuck in a similar scenario in many weeks this season as long as his aforementioned trio of teammates is healthy, and there's also the chance he's a healthy scratch in any given week if Arians needs to go heavier at another position.
SEPTEMBER 14, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Another obstacle to playing time Vaughn has another veteran running back to contend for playing time with in the form of Leonard Fournette, whom the Buccaneers signed to a one-year deal Wednesday, Jenna Laine of E...
Impact The rookie third-round pick was already looking at an uphill climb for touches with Ronald Jones having previously been deemed the lead back to begin the season, and with decorated veteran LeSean McCoy also around to handle plenty of change-of-pace work. The addition of Fournette takes the logjam at the position to a completely different level, considering the fourth-year pro arrives with a pair of 1,000-yard rushing seasons already on his resume and a 76-catch tally in 2019 to boot. Laine speculates the running back room is now crowded to the extent Vaughn could conceivably be a practice squad candidate to start the year, considering that unit has been expanded considerably for the 2020 season due to the unique circumstances surrounding the campaign. The exact hierarchy of the Buccaneers backfield is likely to become clearer in the days approaching the team's Week 1 tilt against the Saints.

Vanderbilt leaning on defense in tough SEC-only schedule

Derek Mason has plenty of experience back on his Vanderbilt defense
AUGUST 31, 2020 • Associated Press
Earns praise from boss Vaughn earned praise Thursday from coach Bruce Arians for both his toughness and superior vision as a runner, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Impact The rookie had a brief hiccup at the start of training camp with to his placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but it appears he's starting to make up for lost time. Arians anointed Ronald Jones as the clear-cut lead back heading into camp, putting the onus on the rookie to progressively make a dent into the third-year pro's playing time with his own performance. As is usually the case for young running backs, one of the keys to snaps for Vaughn will be his consistency in pass protection, and to that end, it's worth noting Arians also remarked that the Vanderbilt product was quickly finding out how difficult "some NFL pass rushers are to block" in early practices. Smith separately reports Arians noted Friday that Vaughn is also a consideration for kickoff returns, especially with T.J. Logan (knee) slated to undergo surgery Saturday for a patellar tendon injury suffered in Thursday's practice.
