Reaches settlement with Houston Pitsenberger (ankle) reached an injury settlement with the Texans on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact The running back was placed on injured reserve Aug. 15 after suffering an ankle injury in a preseason loss to the Chargers. Now that Pitsenberger has reached a settlement with Houston, he has a chance to play in 2026. Wilson reported that the Yale product is dealing with a "three-week injury."

Impact Pitsenberger suffered an ankle injury in Friday's preseason loss to the Chargers. The running back was set to be sidelined for at least a few weeks but will now miss the entirety of the 2026 season. The only way Pitsenberger could hope to play in 2026 is if he were waived with an injury settlement.

Impact Pitsenberger may have picked up the injury during the Texans' 27-7 loss to the Chargers in Thursday's preseason game, when he turned nine carries into 33 yards while playing 25 snaps (20 on offense, five on special teams). If the two-week recovery timeline is accurate, then Pitsenberger would be out for this Thursday's exhibition game against the Raiders, though he could be back for the Texans' preseason finale against the Panthers on Friday, Aug. 28.

Joins Houston The Texans signed Pitsenberger as an undrafted free agent Friday.

Impact Pitsenberger played all four of his collegiate years at Yale, ending his career in 2025 as the team's captain. The running back ended his final season with 313 rushes for 1,571 yards and 19 touchdowns over 12 games. He also added 16 receptions for 128 yards to his yardage total. Pitsenberger will provide additional depth to the Texans' rushing room as they head into the season.
