Sticking around in Houston The Texans signed Kelly to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.

Impact Kelly spent the entire 2025 season on the Texans' practice squad after failing to make the Cowboys' 53-man roster at the end of training camp in late August. He didn't appear in a regular-season game, but by signing a future contract, he'll be on Houston's 90-man roster for the offseason and will be eligible to participate in OTAs and minicamp.

Impact Kelly was unable to crack the Cowboys' 53-man roster, but he'll stay in-state with the Texans on the team's practice squad. The undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech finished the preseason with two catches (on six targets) for 25 yards across 68 offensive snaps in three games.

Cut by Dallas The Cowboys waived Kelly on Monday, Joe Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Signed by Dallas as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech earlier in the offseason, Kelly played 68 offensive snaps this preseason and caught two passes for 25 yards on six targets.

In line to join Cowboys Kelly is slated to sign with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Kelly spent four seasons at Fresno State before transferring to Washington State in 2023. His success out west led him to a sixth college season at Texas Tech where he posted 89 catches for a team-high 1,023 yards and five touchdowns. Kelly's a solid route runner with dependable hands, but his lack of speed (4.70 40-yard dash) may keep him off an NFL roster.
