Boinks game-winning FG attempt Borregales drilled a 55-yard field goal, hit the right upright on a 49-yard would-be game-winning attempt and connected on all three extra-point tries in the Buccaneers' 26-24 pres...
Impact Borregales' miss obviously couldn't have been more in the spotlight and sullied what had otherwise been a highly impressive night. Greg Auman of The Athletic reports that Borregales' 55-yard make was five yards longer than any regular-season Buccaneers field goal since 2019, and the nearly perfect effort mirrored a lot of the rookie's training camp practice performances. However, Borregales conceded after the game the snap on the missed would-be game-winning attempt was perfect and put the blame on himself, noting those were precisely the type of kicks he needed to consistently execute. The battle between Borregales and incumbent Ryan Succop will continue in practice during the week, and it remains to be seen if the latter will get all the attempts in Saturday's road matchup versus the Titans.

Keeping heat on Succop Borregales, who most recently went 6-for-7 on field-goal attempts in Wednesday's joint practice with the Dolphins, continues impressing in his battle with Ryan Succop for the start...
Impact Borregales and Succop have typically been alternating days where they serve as the sole placekicker in practice, and each seemingly continues to run neck-and-neck with the other. Per Crane, Borregales' one miss Wednesday came from approximately 48 yards, and Succop followed with a perfect 7-for-7 tally Thursday, but both kickers have had their share of unblemished and near-perfect efforts thus far. Succop seemingly enjoyed an advantage coming in due to his incumbent status, but if each player performs very similarly during preseason games, the fact the veteran's $4.5 million cap hit for 2022 dwarfs Borregales' $870,000 figure could be the tiebreaker.

Impressing early in camp Borregales, who's attempting to unseat Ryan Succop for the starting placekicker job this summer, has gone 7-for-8 on field-goal attempts in each of his first two training camp prac...
Impact Head coach Todd Bowles is alternating camp practices between his two kickers, and Borregales' first two sessions came Thursday and Saturday. Auman reports Borregales' longest kicks Thursday were about five yards farther than Succop's farthest attempts, and Saturday, he made his first six attempts before hitting the right upright from 51 yards out for his only miss. Bowles essentially declared the battle a draw thus far, noting "both of them are healthy, both of them are kicking good right now."

Getting chance to compete in camp Borregales will have an opportunity to compete with Ryan Succop for the starting placekicker job this summer, Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact The University of Miami product spent the entirety of last season on the practice squad but was protected after each game, ensuring he would remain with the organization. The Buccaneers then wasted no time signing Borregales to a reserve/future contract after their postseason run concluded in late January, and general manager Jason Licht confirmed Tuesday that the 24-year-old will have a legitimate opportunity to unseat veteran Ryan Succop for the starting job this summer.

Signs future deal The Buccaneers signed Borregales to a reserve/future contract Monday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Borregales spent the entire season on the team's practice squad, providing depth behind veteran kicker Ryan Succop. With Succop under contract through the 2023 season, it seems Tampa Bay is content rolling into next year with the same kicking arrangement.

Back from Buccaneers' COVID list Borregales was restored to the Buccaneers' practice squad from the practice squad COVID-19 list Tuesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Impact The kicker was away from the team for almost a week after being placed on the COVID-19 list last Thursday. Borregales will return to his role as an emergency option behind starter Ryan Succop as the team launches their postseason campaign.
