INJURIES
Remains limited Thursday Howden (oblique) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Impact Howden is working through an oblique injury that has limited him in each of the Saints' first two practices of the week. He would likely fade an injury tag for Sunday's regular-season opener against Arizona if he were to log a full practice Friday. Howden is expected to serve in a prominent rotational role at safety alongside Justin Reid and Julian Blackmon.

Steps forward in second season In 17 games in 2024, Howden recorded 50 tackles (27 solo) and two interceptions.
Impact Howden played almost the same number of defensive snaps in 2024 (526) as he did in his rookie season in 2023 (540), but this year he had more tackles and two picks to show for it. He was still firmly behind Tyrann Mathieu and Will Harris in the pecking order for playing time, but with the latter in line to become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason, Howden might end up competing for more reps in 2025.

Howden played at least 95 percent of defensive snaps in seven games, though he played 43 percent or less of defensive snaps in his other nine appearances. He'll look to work his way into a more full-time role in 2024.
