Cut from Miami practice squad The Dolphins cut Franklin from the practice squad Tuesday.

Impact The Dolphins waived Franklin during Sunday's cutdown day. The tight end cleared waivers and joined the team's practice squad Monday before being cut Tuesday. The undrafted free agent out of Boston College has had a complicated few days, but will ultimately need to find a new job. Franklin originally signed with the Patriots in late July, so there is a chance he could return to New England for a shot at the team's practice squad.

Waived by Miami Franklin was waived by the Dolphins on Sunday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact The tight was claimed off waivers from New England on Aug. 5 and saw second-team reps during training camp with Ben Sims (undisclosed) and Will Kacmarek (undisclosed) nursing injuries, but Franklin was not able to make enough of an impact to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. He saw two targets during preseason action but didn't record a catch. Franklin went undrafted this year after four seasons at Boston College.

Impact Franklin was set to become a free agent after New England cut him Tuesday, but the Dolphins jumped in to add him to their 90-man roster before that could happen. He should at least be able to fill some practice reps during training camp while Greg Dulcich nurses an undisclosed injury.

Impact The move makes room on the 90-man roster for wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer, whom the Patriots claimed off waivers from the Cardinals. Franklin signed with New England in late July as an undrafted free agent, and if he clears waivers, he'll look to join a team in need of depth at tight end.
