Joins Atlanta's practice squad Miller was signed to the Falcons' practice squad Tuesday, Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com reports.

Impact Miller worked out with Atlanta on Sept. 29, and he will now join the team's practice unit. The Patriots drafted the running back in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, but he waived by the team after reaching an injury settlement following an undisclosed injury in late August. Miller spent his entire four-year collegiate career at Alabama, and he'll look to earn an elevation to the active roster down the road this season.

Works out with Falcons Atlanta worked out Miller (undisclosed) on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Miller was waived by the Patriots with an injury settlement prior to the start of the regular season, but it looks like he's at least back in football shape now. The Falcons only have two healthy running backs on their active roster currently, so it makes some sense they would be pursuing some depth at that position.

Waived with injury settlement The Patriots waived Miller (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Sunday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Impact The rookie seventh-rounder had a strong performance in the Patriots' preseason opener, rushing 14 times for 55 yards. Miller has already cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Once the running back regains his health, he will be free to sign with any franchise's 53-man roster or practice squad.

Leading rusher against Indy Miller carried the ball 14 times for 55 yards and failed to catch his only target in Thursday's 13-13 preseason tie with the Colts.

Impact Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson both sat out the Patriots' preseason opener, allowing Miller to get the start and handle the bulk of the work on the ground -- the rest of the RBs in the lineup combined for 27 yards on 17 carries. The 2026 seventh-round is battling Lan Larison, Hassan Haskins and JaMycal Hasty for the RB3 role to open the season, and Miller may have improved his chances of claiming it with Thursday's effort.

Battles for No. 3 spot Miller is in contention for the No. 3 running back role in the Patriots' offense, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Lead candidate Terrell Jennings (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, increasing Miller's odds of acquiring the role. Miller was fighting with Lan Larison for second-team reps in training camp, and now the two will battle each other as well as Hassan Haskins and JaMycal Hasty for the opportunity to be the primary backup to Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson.

Logging kickoff return reps Miller has been taking kickoff return reps during training camp, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.

Impact As camp progresses, Miller, who the Patriots took in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, continues to compete for slotting in the team's backfield behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. While Lazar notes that Lan Larison has been getting the first crack at reps behind the top duo thus far, Miller could still push for the No. 3 RB role down the road, with his ability in the return game boosting his chances of securing a roster spot ahead of Week 1.

Competing for backup role Miller is in line to compete for depth slotting in the Patriots' backfield behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, Evan Lazar of the team's official site reports.

Impact While there is clarity at the top of the team's RB depth chart, the pecking order behind the top duo has yet to established. Also in the mix for complementary backfield work are Terrell Jennings, Lan Larison and Myles Montgomery. Miller, who was taken by New England in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, was a core special-teamer early on in his college career at Alabama, which could help his chances of securing a role as a rookie. Per Lazar, the No. 3 job behind Stevenson and Henderson figures to go to "whoever offers the most juice as a returner and can fill in when needed in the offensive backfield."
