Jalen Coker - Page 14 - NFL News, Rumors, & Updates

Quiet in Week 9 Coker caught two of his three targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 23-22 win over the Saints.

Impact Coker was held without a catch in the second half of Sunday's win; however, the rookie from Holy Cross still finished with the most receiving yards among Panthers wideouts. He also saw his highest snap share of the season (66.0 percent) after Diontae Johnson was traded to the Ravens on Oct. 29. The 23-year-old's role in Carolina's offense appears likely to continue growing, and he's expected to keep making plays as the Panthers host the Giants in Week 10.

Scores first career TD Coker caught four of six targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Broncos.

Impact The rookie led the Panthers in receiving yards on the day, and Coker capped his performance with his first career touchdown as he hauled in a 15-yard toss from Bryce Young in the fourth quarter. Over the last four games, the undrafted wideout out of Holy Cross has posted a respectable 12-186-1 line on 14 targets, but Coker's role in Carolina's passing game will hinge on the health of Diontae Johnson (ribs) and Adam Thielen (hamstring) -- assuming the veteran receivers don't get shipped out before the trade deadline.

Impact With Johnson ruled out and Thielen still on IR, Coker will be part of a shorthanded Panthers receiving corps that also includes Xavier Legette, David Moore and Jonathan Mingo. That group will be catching passes from Bryce Young, who is getting the start under center in place of Andy Dalton (thumb). Coker had 68 receiving yards against the Bears in Week 5, but that is the only time he has exceeded 30 receiving yards.

Quiet in Week 7 Coker caught his only target for 10 yards in Sunday's 40-7 loss to the Commanders.

Impact The rookie wideout struggled along with the rest of Carolina's offense in Sunday's blowout loss, but he still finished third on the team in receiving yards, trailing Ja'Tavion Sanders (61) and Diontae Johnson (17). Coker will likely continue to serve as the Panthers' No. 3 wide receiver until Adam Thielen (hamstring) returns from injury. However, with Carolina's recent offensive struggles, he'll likely find it difficult to be fantasy relevant without finding the endzone.

Catches three passes vs. Falcons Coker caught three of his four targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Falcons.

Impact The rookie served as the Panthers' No. 3 wide receiver in the absence of Adam Thielen (hamstring) on Sunday. Coker's 30 receiving yards ranked third on the Panthers, finishing behind both Diontae Johnson (78) and Ja'Tavion Sanders (49). Carolina's defense gave up 30-plus points for the third consecutive week, and Coker could continue benefiting from positive game scripts while Thielen remains sidelined. Expect the Holy Cross product to serve as Carolina's third wide receiver again in Week 7, when the Panthers play the Commanders.

Steps up in Week 5 Coker caught all four of his targets for 68 yards in Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Bears.

Impact The Holy Cross product was the biggest beneficiary of Xavier Legette's (shoulder) absence during Sunday's loss, as Coker caught all three of his targets for 37 yards in the second half. With Jonathan Mingo's struggles and injuries to both Legette and Adam Thielen (hamstring), Coker could have an opportunity to see increased offensive work as the season progresses, especially if he continues to perform as he did in Week 5. Expect the rookie to serve as Carolina's No. 3 wide receiver in Week 6 when the Panthers take on the Falcons.

Questionable after full practice Coker (foot) practiced in full Friday and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Panthers head coach Dave Canales said all players listed as questionable have a good chance to suit up Sunday, per Joe Person of The Athletic. That lends optimism to the notion that Coker will be able to suit up versus Chicago. Coker handled a depth role in his regular-season debut Week 4, but he failed to secure his only target.

Gets downgraded Coker (foot) did not practice Thursday.

Impact Coker was a full participant Wednesday, suggesting he may have injured his foot in practice. A late-week downgrade isn't typically a good sign for a player's weekend availability, but the Holy Cross product will try and get back on the field Friday ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Bears.

Joining active roster The Panthers plan to sign Coker to their active roster Tuesday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Impact This move comes in response to the Panthers placing Adam Thielen (hamstring) on injured reserve, forcing him to miss at least the team's next four games. Coker was picked up by the Panthers as one of the top undrafted free agents this past offseason and has spent the first three weeks of the season on the team's practice squad. He's expected to serve as a depth piece in Carolina's wide receiver room until Thielen returns from injury.

Brought back by Carolina Coker signed with the Panthers' practice squad Thursday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Impact Coker fell victim to the Panthers' waiver claims, having made the team's initial 53-man roster before being waived Wednesday. However, he's returned to Carolina's practice squad and could very well be elevated to the team's active roster at some point this season.

Waived by Panthers The Panthers waived Coker on Wednesday, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Impact Coker made the Panthers' initial 53-man roster, but he's now been dropped as a result of the team's waiver claims, per Zietlow. The Holy Cross product was one of the top undrafted free-agents from the 2024 draft class, so he could definitely find his way onto another practice squad or active roster heading into his rookie campaign.

Activated off PUP list The Panthers activated Coker (undisclosed) off the active/PUP list Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Impact Coker signed with Carolina as an undrafted free agent out of Holy Cross in April, and he led the FCS with 15 receiving touchdowns. Coker will be ready for the start of Panthers training camp Wednesday, and he'll compete for a spot on the end of the wide receiver depth chart.
