Bengals 9, Rams 0: Costly Fumble Sours Rams First Half Success
A fumble by running back Jake Funk ended up costing Los Angeles a chance for an easy score

Just two touches Friday
Funk rushed once for no gain and secured his only target for minus-1 yard in the Rams' 24-20 preseason loss to the Texans on Friday night.
Impact
With neither Cam Akers nor Darrell Henderson suiting up due to undisclosed injuries, Funk served as the starting running back but actually saw less work than during the preseason-opening win against the Chargers. The 2021 seventh-round pick logged most of his game action on special teams last season, and he's likely headed for a similar role in 2022 if he sticks on the final 53-man roster.

Getting additional work
Funk is getting additional reps while Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson are not practicing due to soft-tissue injuries, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Coach Sean McVay said that the Rams are "just being smart" with their top two running backs in limiting their time on the practice field, and Funk has been the recipient of a healthy share of the workload in their absence, including six carries for 16 yards in the Rams 29-21 win over the Chargers on Saturday. Kyren Williams returned from the active/PUP list last week and is also in the mix for valuable reps in practice, and the duo should see plenty of work for the rest of the preseason as they fight for the No. 3 spot on the team's backfield depth chart.

Nine touches Saturday
Funk rushed six times for 16 yards in Saturday's 29-22 win over the Chargers. He also caught one of two passes for 10 yards and returned two kicks for 36 yards.
Impact
Funk didn't light up the stat sheet Saturday, but he did show off a multi-faceted skill set beyond his rushing ability with his reception and two kick returns. Brandon Powell (knee) and Tutu Atwell will likely serve as the primary return men for the Rams during the regular season, but Funk's abilities on special teams may help swing the second-year running back onto the roster and into a backup role, especially if Kyren Williams (foot) isn't ready to go to start the regular season.

Rushes twice against Cards
Funk rushed twice for five yards during the 34-11 wild-card round victory over Arizona on Monday. He played four offensive snaps.
Impact
The seventh-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft matched his regular-season numbers against the Cardinals on Monday. Funk rushed once in the second quarter and on the final offensive play of the game for the Rams, and he projects to have a limited role again this week against the Buccaneers with Cam Akers and Sony Michel healthy and running well.

Plays two offensive snaps
Funk rushed once for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Vikings.
Impact
Funk played just two of the Rams' 70 offensive snaps. Sony Michel carried the load, attempting 27 rushes in the contest. With Darrell Henderson (knee) placed on injured reserve, it's possible Funk could see an increase in usage down the stretch. It's important to note, however, that Cam Akers (Achilles) could make his season debut in Week 17 against the Ravens.

Activated off IR
The Rams activated Funk (hamstring) to their active roster Tuesday.
Impact
Funk was originally expected to be out for the season, but he is now back with the Rams' active roster and could potentially suit up Tuesday against the Seahawks. Although he is very close to being fully healthy, the running back will likely continue to mostly only see the field on special teams.

Designated for return
Funk (hamstring) was designated to return from IR on Sunday.
Impact
Funk was placed on IR on Oct. 19 after it was originally reported that he was done for the season. Now that Funk has been designated to return, he has a 21-day window to prove he is healthy enough to be moved to the main roster or he will officially be out for the rest of the season.

Moved to IR
Funk (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Impact
This move comes as no surprise, as the running back was ruled out for the remainder of the season Monday. The 23-year-old mostly operated as a special teams option this year, only playing 17 offensive snaps in six contests.

Shut down for season
Funk has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2021 season due to a torn hamstring injury that may require surgery, J.B. Long of the Los Angeles Rams Radio Network reports.
Impact
Funk has been lost for the season after picking up a hamstring injury in Sunday's matchup against the Giants. He appeared in six contests, rushing once for six yards while accruing 88 yards on kick returns.

Downgraded to out
Funk (hamstring) won't return to Sunday's game against the Giants, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.
Impact
As expected, Funk has been downgraded and won't return to the game -- which was a likely scenario given how tricky hamstring injuries can be. His next chance to play will be in Week 7 against the Lions, but his availability will depend on the severity of the injury.

Picks up hamstring injury
Funk (hamstring) is questionable to return Sunday against the Giants, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.
Impact
It's unclear when Funk picked up the injury, but hamstring problems are tricky and there's no clarity regarding his potential return to action. He wasn't expected to hold a big role on offense with Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel both available, though.

No offensive snaps Week 4
Funk played exclusively on special teams and didn't record any stats during Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Cardinals.
Impact
With Darrell Henderson inactive for Week 3, Funk saw 14 offensive snaps. However, with Henderson back in the mix for Week 4, the rookie was relegated to special-teams duties. The Maryland product is firmly supplanted behind both Sony Michel and Henderson on the depth chart and does not provide any immediate fantasy upside.

Handles single carry in win
Funk rushed once for six yards and played 14 offensive snaps during Sunday's 34-24 win over Tampa Bay.
Impact
The rookie's only carry was the first rush of the game for the Rams, and then Funk gave way to Sony Michel. Michel took 20 totes for 67 yards, and while those numbers don't jump off the stat sheet, the Buccaneers boast a formidable run defense. With Darrell Henderson (ribs) potentially back in the mix for Week 4, and Michel clearly ahead of Funk in the backfield pecking order, there's not a lot of immediate fantasy upside for the first year rusher out of Maryland.

ROTOWIRE
Little action in win
Funk logged three snaps on offense during Sunday's 27-24 win over the Colts.
Impact
Funk failed to see any rushing attempts or targets in the contest. The rookie running back has not been a part of the Rams' offensive game plan through two weeks, as he is seeing most of his playing time on special teams. Instead, Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel have been carrying the load in the backfield. Henderson suffered a rib injury in Week 2, but the Rams are optimistic about his ability to practice this week. Although Michel would be the biggest beneficiary if Henderson has to miss time, it is plausible Funk would take on a role on offense as well.

ROTOWIRE
No offensive snaps
Funk logged 11 snaps on special teams during Sunday's 34-14 win over the Bears.
Impact
Funk failed to see any snaps on offense, as fellow running backs Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel carried the load. Henderson totaled 16 carries while Michel logged just one carry. As the No. 3 running back on the team, Funk will likely have difficulty finding consistent opportunities on offense. It's hard to imagine a path to fantasy relevance for the 5-foot-10, 203-pound rookie if both Henderson and Michel can stay healthy. The Rams are set to take on the Colts in Week 2.
