Targets Week 6 return Phillips (hamstring) could return to the Panthers' lineup as early as the Week 6 game against the Buccaneers, Mike Kaye of ESPN.com reported Monday.

Impact Phillips sustained a hamstring injury in the Panthers' Week 4 win over the Rams. The strongside linebacker is week-to-week with the injury but has only been preliminarily ruled out of the team's Week 5 contest against the Eagles. Princely Umanmielen or Trevis Gipson will likely start at strongside linebacker opposite Patrick Jones in Phillips' absence.

Questionable to return Phillips (back) is questionable to return to Sunday night's contest against Detroit, Mike Kaye of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Phillips is also being evaluated for a concussion, making it unlikely that he'll be able to return to the field before the game's conclusion. In his absence, Trevis Gipson and Princely Umanmielen are both candidates to see an increase in workload at outside linebacker.

Back at practice Thursday Phillips (back) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Impact Phillips didn't practice Wednesday but was back out there for Thursday's session. While his presence at practice was an encouraging sign, his status is still worth monitoring ahead of the Week 3 meeting with the Browns. The 27-year-old has played in both of the Panthers' games during the 2026 campaign thus far, amassing five total tackles and two sacks.

Unavailable for practice Phillips (back) did not practice Wednesday.

Impact Phillips was forced to sit out the team's first practice of the week as he nurses a back injury. The 27-year-old likely suffered the injury during the team's 34-3 win over Atlanta in Week 2, a game during which he registered two total tackles (one solo), including 1.0 sacks. Phillips will have two more opportunities to practice before the Panthers travel to face Cleveland in Week 3.

Fades injury report Phillips (arm) was not listed on the Panthers' injury report Wednesday.

Impact Phillips was dealing with an arm injury that caused him to miss training camp practices and preseason games, but the sixth-year pro's absence from Wednesday's report indicates that he'll play Sunday against Chicago. Phillips and Patrick Jones (back) will serve as Carolina's starting edge rushers for the upcoming season, with Trevis Gipson and Princely Umanmielen providing depth at the position.

Set to sit Friday Phillips (arm) will not play in Friday night's preseason game against the Jaguars, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

Impact Phillips' arm issue was likely sustained during Wednesday's joint practice with the Jaguars. The outside linebacker participated in the first few drives of last Saturday's game against the Bills, logging 1.0 sacks in the brief appearance. It is unclear how severe Phillips' injury is or if he will need to miss additional time. Princely Umanmielen will take over the role of primary edge rusher opposite Patrick Jones in Friday's contest.
