Jack Strand - Backup QB again Sunday Strand is listed as the backup quarterback for Sunday's game versus the Panthers, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

Impact With Michael Penix (knee) out and Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) doubtful, Cooper Rush (back) will start again in Week 2. While Strand is currently penciled in as the No. 2 signal-caller against Carolina, he could see action if Rush can't stay on the field.

Jack Strand - Could be an option in Week 2 Strand could be an option for Sunday's game against the Panthers,Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

Impact The Falcons' injury woes at quarterback could lead to Strand being active and available again in Week 2. Not only are Tua Tagovailoa (oblique) and Michael Penix (knee) dealing with injuries, but Cooper Rush is also getting treatment for his back. Tagovailoa was not practicing Wednesday while Rush was expected to be a full participant. Penix was throwing off to the side. Depending how the injury reports shake out over the coming days, Strand could be the backup yet again for the Falcons as they host the Panthers.

Jack Strand - Backup QB for Week 1 Strand will serve as the Falcons' backup quarterback behind Cooper Rush for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

Impact The Falcons chose to carry four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, and that looks to have been a somewhat savvy move after Tua Tagovailoa was ruled out for Week 1 due to an oblique injury he sustained in Thursday's practice. With Michael Penix (knee) also sidelined, the Falcons will turn to the veteran Rush to start under center while Strand -- an undrafted rookie out of Minnesota State-Moorhead -- operates as the QB2. Strand played in all three of the Falcons' preseason games, completing 24 of 36 passes for 306 yards, one touchdown and one interception while turning 17 carries into 29 yards and two scores.

Falcons' quarterback plans could be set ablaze by bold Jack Strand prediction This Jack Strand prediction could spell trouble for the Atlanta Falcons' QB plans.

SEPTEMBER 9 • BLOGGINGDIRTY.COM

Jack Strand - Makes roster as one of four QBs Strand is one of four quarterbacks who made Atlanta's 53-man roster, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.

Impact The three QBs to make the roster along with Strand are Tua Tagovailoa, Michael Penix Jr. (knee) and Cooper Rush. Strand is listed as last on the team's initial depth chart, so he's unlikely to see much action, if any, barring injuries to multiple signal-callers ahead of him. Falcons GM Ian Cunningham called the team's decision to carry four quarterbacks "a little bit of an insurance policy," per the Associated Press, in acknowledgement of Tagovailoa's injury history and the knee issue Penix is still working his way back from. Still, Strand -- who signed with Atlanta as an undrafted free agent in May -- could ultimately end up on the practice squad when/if the team needs to provide more depth at other positions.
