Injury waived by Chiefs Kansas City waived Gathings (hamstring) with an injury waiver Friday.

Impact Gathings will be in search for a new opportunity less than a month after signing with the Chiefs, as he also still is dealing with a hamstring injury. The 6-foot-4 tight end has also been a part of Jets and Steelers' organizations so far in his career but has not yet gotten his NFL debut.

Gets chance with Chiefs Kansas City signed Gathings to a contract Sunday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Impact Gathings also got a look from Kansas City last year but didn't advance beyond the practice squad and was cut this May. He was subsequently signed by the Steelers before being waived in June. In a move corresponding with Gathings' signing, fellow tight end Gerrit Prince (lower leg) was waived.

Lands with Pittsburgh The Steelers signed Gathings to a one-year contract Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.

Impact Gathings spent time on the Chiefs' practice squad last season and signed a reserve/future deal with Kansas City in February before being cut May 4. The 23-year-old out of Middle Tennessee joins a deep Pittsburgh tight end corps that is headed by Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward, though that group was relatively unproductive last season.

Returning to Kansas City The Chiefs signed Gathings to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Gathings signed with Kansas City's practice squad back in December and will now get another opportunity with the team. The 2023 undrafted free agent will now spend the offseason competing for a roster spot and will look to make his regular season debut.

Signs with Kansas City Gathings was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Gathings had a workout with Kansas City and was subsequently signed by the team Wednesday. The tight end was let go by the Chiefs in August, but he has now gotten a second chance with the team.
