Signs contract with Steelers
The Steelers signed Johnson to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official website reports.
Impact
The cornerback was waived by the Raiders in August and signed with the Steelers' practice squad in mid-December. Johnson will now return to the Steelers for the 2022 season and look to carve out a potential depth role in their secondary.

Waived by Las Vegas
The Raiders waived Johnson on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact
Las Vegas' former fourth-round pick from the 2019 draft is set to hit waivers after spending two seasons with the Raiders. Last season, the cornerback recorded 13 tackles (seven solo) and four pass deflections. Johnson had a hard time getting playing time with the Raiders, so a fresh start on a new team could be beneficial to the 25-year-old.

Off the PUP list
Johnson was activated from the PUP list by the Raiders on Friday, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
Impact
Last season Johnson appeared in 14 games for the Raiders with 181 snaps on defense and 125 snaps on special teams, tallying 13 tackles and four passes defended. Despite playing in many games last year, the 2019 fourth-round pick is pretty far down on the depth chart, so getting back on the field is huge for his chances of making the roster.

Comes off COVID list
Johnson was removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Johnson seemingly dodged a positive COVID-19 result, as he's come off the reserve list just three days after initially joining. The 2019 fourth-round pick has been handed an inconsistent workload this season, fielding 50-plus defensive snaps Weeks 9 and 12, but only five snaps per game over his other 11 appearances of the year.

Lands on COVID-19 list
The Raiders placed Johnson on the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
Johnson either tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with an infected person. If it's merely the latter, the second-year cornerback has a chance to play in the Week 16 matchup against Miami. His status for that contest should be evident by whether he's present at practice Wednesday or Thursday.

Returns to action Sunday
Johnson (groin) is active for Sunday's game against the Colts.
Impact
The 24-year-old was sidelined for last week's win over the Jets due to the groin injury, but he's ready to take the field Sunday. Johnson played 60 defensive snaps Week 12 but should return to a reserve role with Trayvon Mullen now healthy.

Won't play Sunday
Johnson (groin) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Impact
Johnson's practice availability during the week went the wrong direction; he logged FP/LP/DNP before ultimately being deemed questionable. Johnson's absence will hurt the depth at cornerback for the contest, but the good news for the Raiders was that fellow cornerback Trayvon Mullen (illness) was deemed healthy enough to play. With Johnson sidelined, expect Mullen and Nevin Lawson to handle starting duties with Amik Robertson and Damon Arnette seeing depth action.

Johnson (undisclosed) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
The 24-year-old was placed on the COVID list earlier in the week as a high-risk close contact, but he's back on the roster in time for Week 11. Johnson should fill a rotational role in the secondary for the Raiders.

Impact
Johnson was considered a high-risk close contact after Clelin Ferrell tested positive for the virus Tuesday. Johnson will be eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Chiefs as long as he continues to test negative this week leading up to the game.
