Could require surgery Hodgins may need shoulder surgery, but the Bills hope that rest will be enough for him to return this season, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.

Impact Hodgins was placed on injured reserve Sunday and is required to miss at least three games as a result, and the team is hoping he'll be recovered enough to return by then. At some point, however, he'll likely need surgery. The rookie sixth-round pick is eligible to return in Week 4 versus the Jets.

Moves to IR The Bills placed Hodgins (undisclosed) on injured reserve Sunday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

Impact The nature and severity of Hodgins' injury remain undisclosed, but he'll be eligible to return to the active roster after a minimum of three weeks. When healthy, Hodgins could find himself in position to compete for No. 4 receiver snaps with Gabriel Davis, Isaiah McKenzie and Andre Roberts.

Puts paper to ink Hodgins has signed his rookie deal, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

Impact Drafted in the sixth round out of Oregon State, Hodgins will have a tough row to hoe to land a permanent spot on the Bills, as the team has at least three locked-in wideouts in Stefon Diggs, John Brown and Cole Beasley. After that comes a whole slew of guys in the same boat as Hodgins, who probably sits about ninth if we're guessing at the team's current depth chart, one that includes Gabriel Davis, who was drafted two rounds in front of Hodgins. Hodgins does offer is size at 6-foot-4 along with good skills around the ball. The Bills don't currently have a lot of "bigs" in their receiving corps.
