Catches on with Bolts The Chargers signed Rucci to a contract Tuesday.
Impact With both Charlie Kolar (forearm) and David Njoku (knee) both slated to go on injured reserve, the Chargers needed more depth at tight end behind second-year pro Oronde Gadsden. Rucci did not record a catch across four regular-season games with the Vikings in 2025, and he figures to serve mostly as a blocker on offense and a contributor on special teams, with Gadsden being the pass-catching tight end for Justin Herbert.

Signed to practice squad The 49ers signed Rucci to the practice squad Wednesday.
Impact Rucci had a tryout with the team Tuesday, and the tight end has officially joined the practice squad in anticipation of the 49ers' divisional round matchup with the Seahawks. With starting tight end George Kittle (Achilles) suffering a season-ending injury in last Sunday's playoff win over the Eagles, Rucci will add depth to the position group. The 24-year-old is a strong candidate for elevation to the active roster ahead of Saturday's game against the Seahawks.

Rucci has failed to garner a target while playing 39 offensive snaps over four contests with Miami this year.

Impact Rucci has been elevated for the second straight week with Darren Waller (pectoral) on IR and Julian Hill (ankle) ruled out this week. Reverts to practice squad Rucci reverted to Miami's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Rucci was elevated for the first time this weekend for the Dolphins' Week 8 win over Atlanta. He worked as Miami's third tight end behind Tanner Conner and Greg Dulcich and didn't record any targets. Rucci's opportunity came as a result of Darren Waller (pectoral) and Julian Hill (ankle) missing the contest. Waller is on IR and Hill was deemed a non-participant in Monday's estimated practice report, so Rucci certainly has a chance of being elevated again for Thursday's battle against Baltimore.
