Gunnar Helm - NFL News, Rumors, & Updates

Pops up on injury report Helm was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice due to a knee injury.

Impact Helm didn't appear on the Titans' initial Week 5 injury report posted Wednesday, so his limited participation Thursday could be indicate that he hurt his knee at some point during practice. The Titans will see what Helm is able to do during the final practice of the week Friday before determining if he'll take a designation into Sunday's game against the Texans. The tight end has played more than 70 percent of snaps in each of Tennessee's first four contests but has been a minor part of the passing attack, stringing together a 9-60-0 receiving line on 12 targets.

Logs two-point conversion in Week 4 Helm hauled in his lone pass for five yards and caught a two-point conversion during the Titans' 24-18 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.

Impact Helm didn't see a target from Cam Ward until the Titans' final offensive drive of the fourth quarter, with the duo connecting on a 5-yard pass before hooking up on a successful two-point conversion. Helm opened the 2026 regular season with four catches (on five targets) for 28 yards against the Jets in Week 1, but in the three games since, he has logged five receptions (on seven targets) for 32 yards. It's hard to hold much stock in Titans position players outside of rookie wideout Carnell Tate and veteran running back Tony Pollard. Helm and the Titans head back home for a Week 5 AFC South showdown against the Texans.

Quiet again in Week 3 loss Helm notched two catches on four targets for 14 yards Sunday in a loss to the Giants.

Impact Helm and fellow tight end Daniel Bellinger each had two catches in the contest, though Helm garnered two more targets. After opening the campaign with a 4-28-0 line against the Jets, Helm has managed a combined 4-27-0 line across his subsequent pair of games. He'll look to be more productive next Sunday in Baltimore, though Tennessee's passing game as a whole is struggling so far, averaging just 159.0 yards per game -- third-fewest in the NFL.

Produces 13 yards in Week 2 loss Helm caught both of his targets for 13 yards in the Titans' 24-20 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.

Impact Through two games, Helm has six grabs for 40 scoreless yards on seven targets. He's nowhere near usable in fantasy in this anemic Tennessee passing offense that hasn't even been able to support a single pass catcher to this point in the season.

Secures four passes in loss Helm caught four of five targets for 28 yards in the Titans' 23-10 loss to the Jets on Sunday.

Impact Helm's five targets trailed both Carnell Tate and Wan'Dale Robinson, as the duo drew six targets apiece to lead the team in Week 1. Even more importantly for Helm's fantasy prospects, he ran 22 routes to Daniel Bellinger's five, suggesting he's well ahead of Bellinger on the depth chart as a pass catcher. Helm will be a lower-end TE2 next Sunday against the Eagles.

Ends preseason with one catch Helm finished the preseason slate with one catch (on two targets) for 16 yards in two appearances.

Impact Helm joined the rest of the healthy starters to kick off preseason Weeks 1 and 2, logging 26 offensive snaps between the two contests. He then was rested in Saturday's exhibition finale against the Bears along with QB Cam Ward and company. A fourth-round pick in the 2025 Draft, Helm hauled in 44 of 55 targets for 357 yards and two touchdowns in 16 regular-season games as a rookie, and he'll be looking to build upon those numbers in Year 2 under new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

Productive on one catch Helm brought in his only target for 16 yards in the Titans' 19-13 preseason win over the 49ers on Thursday.

Impact With Chig Okonkwo now in Washington, Helm is set to operate as the Titans' unquestioned No. 1 tight end in 2026. Consequently, the second-year pro was on the field with the rest of the starters to open Thursday's game, and he flashed on his one reception, which came during the Titans' opening possession. Helm's 16-yard grab moved the ball into 49ers territory and put his ability to gain yards after the catch on display. Helm already managed a 44-357-2 line across 16 regular-season games as a rookie in a rotational role, so fantasy expectations are understandably elevated now that Okonkwo is no longer a competitor for Cam Ward's attention.

Impact Helm set a franchise rookie tight end record with 44 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns while suiting up for 16 regular-season games in 2025. Added competition may limit his fantasy ceiling, but a strong offseason would give Helm a chance to earn a larger role in Tennessee's offense, and the departure of Chig Okonkwo for the Commanders opens up notable receiving opportunities. Helm appears the favorite to win the No. 1 tight end job during training camp, with Daniel Bellinger and Kylen Gradson fitting into complementary roles.

With Chig Okonkwo now with the Commanders, Helm looks to win the TE1 job with the Titans this summer. Ruled out for season finale Helm (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's season finale against the Jaguars, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Impact With Helm unavailable, Chig Okonkwo is slated to lead the Titans' Week 18 TE corps, with David Martin-Robinson also in the mix, while Cole Turner is a potential practice squad elevation. Helm finishes up his rookie season with a 44/357/2 receiving line (on 55 targets) in 16 contests. With Okonkwo eligible to become a free agent, the 2025 fourth-rounder could be positioned for an expanded role in 2026, pending the Titans' offseason moves at that tight end position.
