INJURIES

Doesn't last long with Titans Johnson was released by the Titans on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact Johnson lasted just 11 days in Tennessee before being released as part of the team's cut-down to 53 players on the roster. The 30-year-old running back has 103 games of regular-season experience, so Johnson could be called upon by a team later in the season if backfield injuries strike, even if he's unable to find a landing spot immediately.

Adds depth to Tennessee backfield Johnson agreed to a one-year contract with the Titans on Wednesday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
Impact Tennessee marks the fifth NFL stop for the 30-year-old running back, who has previously spent time in the Browns, Jaguars, Ravens and Patriots organizations. He's averaged a respectable 4.4 yards per carry and 8.8 yards per reception over 103 career games and is also capable of contributing as a kickoff returner. He'll give the Titans some healthy depth in the backfield for the duration of the preseason while the likes of Tony Pollard (undisclosed), Nick Singleton (foot) and Kalel Mullings (hip) continue to nurse injuries, but Johnson will still face an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster.
AUGUST 19 • ROTOWIRE
Reverts to practice squad Johnson reverted to New England's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Johnson didn't see any playing time on offense during the Super Bowl but did return four kickoffs for 103 yards. The 29-year-old finished the 2025 campaign with 25 rushing yards on 13 attempts across seven regular-season games with the Patriots.
FEBRUARY 11 • ROTOWIRE
Signs to active roster The Patriots elevated Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster.
Impact Johnson has been active through the Patriots' entire playoff run as Terrell Jennings remains on injured reserve. Johnson will act as a depth piece behind running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. The 29-year-old has just two snaps on special teams during the Patriots' 10-7 win over the Broncos during Sunday's AFC Championship Game and could see a similar role for the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Back to Pats' practice squad Johnson reverted to the Patriots' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Johnson returned two kickoffs for 59 yards during the Patriots' 10-7 win over the Broncos during Sunday's AFC Championship Game, which ended up being his only snaps of the game. The Patriots will end the 2025 season against the Seahawks on Feb. 9 for Super Bowl LX, and while Johnson has been elevated from the practice squad for each of New England's three playoff games, he may not get that chance for the Super Bowl if Terrell Jennings (concussion) is activated from injured reserve.
JANUARY 27 • ROTOWIRE
Elevated as running back depth The Patriots elevated Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Impact With Terrell Jennings (concussion) staying on injured reserve, Johnson will once again be elevated to provide depth behind running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Broncos. The No. 3 running back did not have an offensive touch in last Sunday's win over the Texans, but returned two kickoffs for 47 yards.

Reverts to practice squad Johnson reverted to the Patriots' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Johnson was limited to five snaps on special teams during the Patriots' 28-16 win over the Texans during Sunday's AFC divisional game, and in the process he returned two kickoffs for 47 yards. Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson handled all the backfield touches against Houston, but Johnson would likely be elevated to the Patriots' active roster for this Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Broncos if Terrell Jennings (concussion) is unable to play.

Impact Johnson rejoined New England's practice squad earlier in the week after rushing for 25 yards on 13 carries across seven games with the team earlier in the season. The 29-year-old could serve as the team's No. 3 running back if Terrell Jennings (concussion) ends up being unable to play.

Signs to Pats' practice squad New England signed Johnson to the practice squad Tuesday.

Let go by Patriots Johnson was released by the Patriots on Monday.
Impact Johnson played two snaps on special teams in Sunday's 16-3 win over the Chargers in the wild-card round but has been released from New England's 53-man roster the next day. He had 14 carries for 25 yards in eight regular-season games, seven of which came with the Patriots after Johnson notched one appearance for the Cardinals.
JANUARY 12 • ROTOWIRE
Signs contract with Patriots New England signed Johnson to the active roster Saturday.
Impact Johnson was initially elevated from the practice squad to the active roster Friday, but he'll get a spot on the 53-man roster after running back Terrell Jennings (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. Jennings will now be sidelined for at least the next four games, thus sidelining him for at least the remainder of the regular season. In his absence, Johnson will serve as the Patriots' No. 3 running back behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson.

Joins active roster Johnson was elevated from the Patriots' practice squad to the active roster Friday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
Impact With Terrell Jennings (concussion) set to miss the Week 15 divisional matchup against the Bills, Johnson's addition to the active roster provides New England with much-needed depth at running back. The 29-year-old has appeared in three games for the Patriots this season, rushing four times for seven yards. He's expected to play behind TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson on Sunday.
DECEMBER 12, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Back to practice squad Johnson reverted to the Patriots' practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact TreVeyon Henderson dominated the touches out of the backfield during the Patriots' 27-14 win over the Jets on Thursday. Terrell Jennings was active after working through a knee injury during the shortened week but didn't end up playing a snap, while Johnson logged eight snaps on offense and turned three carries into six yards. Johnson has been elevated from the practice squad by the Patriots three times this season, which is the max; however, the veteran running back could be signed to New England's active roster if Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) is expected to miss more time.
NOVEMBER 14, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Elevated for TNF The Patriots elevated Johnson from their practice squad ahead of Thursday night's game against the Jets, Evan Lazar of the team's official site reports.
Impact Per Lazar, this is Johnson's final elevation, so after Week 11 the running back would need to be signed to the Patriots' 53-man roster in order to suit up for game action. On Thursday, he'll provide the team with backfield depth behind TreVeyon Henderson and Terrell Jennings (knee), assuming he's active. Meanwhile, Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) is slated to miss his third straight contest.
NOVEMBER 13, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Reverts to practice squad Johnson reverted to the Patriots' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Johnson played six offensive snaps during Sunday's 28-23 win over the Buccaneers, one more than Terrell Jennings, the latter of whom left the game due to a knee injury. Johnson logged one carry for one yard in Week 10, and with Jennings, Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) and TreVeyon Henderson (knee) all listed as limited practice participants Monday, Johnson could be elevated to the Patriots' active roster for Thursday's AFC East tilt against the Jets.
NOVEMBER 11, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Elevated for Week 10 The Patriots elevated Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Impact Johnson has been elevated to the Patriots' active roster for a second consecutive week. He will serve as the RB3 behind TreVeyon Henderson and Terrell Jennings and will also serve as a returner on kickoffs in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, per Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site. Johnson played five snaps on special teams without showing up on the box score otherwise during the Patriots' Week 9 win over the Falcons.

NOVEMBER 8, 2025 • PATRIOTS.COM
Back to practice squad Johnson reverted to the Patriots' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Johnson joined the Patriots' practice squad Wednesday and was elevated for Week 9 against the Falcons to provide backfield depth in the absence of Rhamondre Stevenson (toe). However, Johnson saw the field for only five snaps on special teams as TreVeyon Henderson and Terrell Jennings served as the clear one-two punch out of the Patriots' backfield. Johnson could be elevated for the Patriots' Week 10 clash against the Buccaneers this Sunday if Stevenson is not cleared to play.
NOVEMBER 4, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Elevated for Week 9 Johnson was elevated from the Patriots' practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Impact With Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) ruled out for Sunday's contest with the Falcons, Johnson gets the elevation. He will likely share backup work with Terrell Jennings behind TreVeyon Henderson, who is slated to be the Patriots' lead back.

Impact For now, TreVeyon Henderson and Terrell Jennings are the only healthy running backs on New England's active roster, but Johnson, Jonathan Ward and Rushawn Baker are all candidates to be elevated from the team's practice squad Saturday. If Johnson ends up getting the call versus Atlanta, he'd be in line to share backup work with Jennings, with Henderson slated to be the Patriots' lead back this weekend.
OCTOBER 31, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Joins Patriots' practice squad Johnson signed with the Patriots' practice squad Wednesday, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports.
Impact The South Florida product was cut from the Cardinals' practice squad Tuesday, but he's already found a new home in New England. He made on appearance for Arizona this season, rushing once for no yards across 14 offensive snaps. With Antonio Gibson (knee), Lan Larison (foot) and Deneric Prince (Tulsa) all currently on injured reserve, Johnson could be elevated to the Patriots' active roster and play a depth role in the backfield.
