NFL Catchup: Cowboys-Saints Fights, A Christian McCaffrey Update & Deals Were Made
Reverts to Giants' IR Miller (groin) reverted from waivers to the Giants' injured reserve list Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Miller was not claimed by another team after getting waived with a groin issue Monday, so now he's on track to spend the entire 2026 season on IR. His last regular-season action came back in 2024, when he played eight total snaps over two games.
AUGUST 18 • ROTOWIRE
Waived with injury designation Miller (groin) was waived/injured by the Giants on Monday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Impact The running back sustained the groin injury in Saturday's preseason contest versus Minnesota, and New York coach John Harbaugh said there "might be a situation there" after the game, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. If Miller's injury is as serious as Harbaugh indicated, he may need to remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season. If he is able to play and clears waivers, he would need to reach an injury settlement with the Giants to have a chance to play in 2026.

Suffers groin injury Miller suffered a groin injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Coach John Harbaugh said there "might be a situation there" regarding Miller's health. While there is no official timeline for the running back's return, Harbaugh's comments imply that he may need to miss significant time. If Miller does have a severe issue, he is a strong candidate for season-ending injured reserve, in which case the Giants would likely look to free agency to find another depth rusher for the remaining preseason games.

Healthy scratch for season finale Miller (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 18 game against the Cowboys, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Miller was elevated to the active roster for Week 17 and was then signed to the active roster Saturday, but he'll end up being a healthy scratch for both of the two games he was eligible to play. As such, the South Carolina product will end the campaign without having seen any regular-season NFL action. Miller will be an exclusive rights free agent in the offseason, and it remains to be seen if New York will want him back given that the Giants have two promising young RBs in Tyrone Tracy and Cam Skattebo (ankle).

Joins active roster The Giants signed Miller to the active roster from the practice squad on Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Miller was elevated to the active roster in Week 17 but was ultimately a healthy scratch. It's unclear if he'll have a role in Sunday's season finale against the Cowboys.

Reverts to practice squad Miller reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Miller was elevated to the Giants' active roster Saturday for the first time this season, but he ended up being a healthy scratch for Sunday's win against the Raiders. The Giants' Week 18 tilt against the Cowboys is Miller's last opportunity to appear in a game during the 2025 regular season.
DECEMBER 30, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Elevated for Sunday The Giants elevated Miller from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact This is Miller's first elevation of the season and may be the first opportunity for the 26-year-old this season. With Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, and Eric Gray all healthy and active, Miller's best hope to get on the field Sunday will be as a special teams addition.

Staying with G-Men The Giants signed Miller to the practice squad Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Impact Miller made a strong case to make the Giants' 53-man roster after logging 14 catches (on as many targets) for 135 yards and 26 carries for 80 yards across three preseason games. He ultimately didn't make the cut after the Giants opted to go with three running backs on the main roster in Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary and rookie fourth-rounder Cam Skattebo. Miller will stick around in New York on the Giants' practice squad, and he would be a top candidate to be elevated to the active roster if Tracy, Singletary or Skattebo were unavailable to play.

Waived by G-Men The Giants waived Miller on Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Impact Miller appeared in two regular-season games for the G-Men last season but didn't record a touch on offense. This preseason, however, Miller was one of the most productive running backs across the league, rushing 26 times for 80 yards while adding 14 catches for 135 yards on 14 targets. Miller will be a candidate to rejoin the Giants' practice squad if he clears waivers.

Makes final case for roster spot Miller rushed 11 times for 41 yards and caught all three of his targets for 12 yards in Thursday's 42-10 preseason win over New England.
Impact Miller was handed an opportunity to showcase his skills in New York's final exhibition contest, as he logged 48 percent of the team's offensive snaps and handled more carries than the Giants' other running backs combined. The results were mixed for Miller -- while he led New York with 41 rushing yards, he averaged just 3.7 yards per carry, and his longest run went for a modest eight yards. However, Miller's most impressive work during the preseason has been as a receiver out of the backfield, as he nabbed all 14 of this targets for 135 yards over the Giants' three games. Tyrone Tracy is locked in as New York's RB1, with Devin Singletary and Cam Skattebo slated to handle the bulk of the backup work. That leaves Miller battling with Eric Gray (undisclosed) for one of the team's final roster spots. Gray didn't play in any preseason contest, as he's been on the PUP list throughout training camp. Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post projects Miller to make New York's initial 53-man roster with Gray potentially remaining on PUP when the regular season kicks off.

Shines in passing game Saturday Miller rushed five times for 17 yards in Saturday's 31-12 exhibition win over the Jets. He added four catches on four targets for 43 yards.
Impact Miller finished second on New York in rushing yards and third in receiving yards. He's found tough sledding on the ground through two preseason games, averaging a meager 2.6 yards on 10 carries, but has been quite impressive in the passing game, tallying 11 receptions on 11 targets for 123 yards. Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary and Cam Skattebo (hamstring) are likely locked in as New York's top three running backs, but Miller has a path to a roster spot as RB4, especially with Eric Gray (undisclosed) still on the PUP list and yet to participate in training camp.

Strengthens push for roster spot Miller received team recognition as the Giants' offensive player of the game following Saturday's preseason win over the Bills, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. The running back...
Impact New York's running game was mostly stifled in the matchup, so though Miller logged only 22 yards on the ground, that was second-most on the team behind Jaxson Dart's 24 yards. Where Miller really shined, though, was in the passing game -- he led New York in both receptions and receiving yards while constantly picking up extra yards after catches. Miller also got the bulk of work out of the backfield for the team, logging 41 offensive snaps while No. 1 RB Tyrone Tracy got just five and backup Devin Singletary notched 12. It's worth noting that rookie Cam Skattebo (hamstring) didn't suit up, but he's almost certainly ahead of Miller on the depth chart as well. That said, Miller is a viable contender for No. 4 RB duties, especially with Eric Gray (undisclosed) still on the PUP list and far from a lock to make the final roster.
