GAME LOG

INJURIES

Ruled out for Week 11 Amendola (hip) is listed as out for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact Amendola will be sidelined for the first time this season after his hip injury prevented him from practicing all week. Top wideout Kenny Golladay (hip) will also be sidelined for the third game in a row, so the Lions will likely have to turn to Marvin Hall and Quintez Cephus as their main options alongside Marvin Jones in three-wide sets.

Absent from practice Amendola (hip) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Impact Meanwhile, Marvin Jones (knee) was back at practice after sitting out Wednesday's session, while Kenny Golladay (hip) was on the field again after logging limited activity a day earlier. As such, Amendola's health looks to be the biggest question mark among Detroit's top three receivers, and he may need to practice in full Friday to avoid carrying an injury designation into this weekend's matchup with the Panthers.
NOVEMBER 19, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Not practicing Wednesday Amendola (hip) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Neither was Marvin Jones (undisclosed), though on the plus side, Kenny Golladay (hip) returned to the practice field Wednesday. Amendola injured his hip during this past Sunday's win over Washington, finishing the day with three receptions for 10 yards on three targets.

Questionable to return Sunday Amendola injured his hip during Sunday's contest versus Washington.
Impact Amendola was escorted to the locker room in the second half and eventually termed questionable to return by the Lions. If he's unable to reenter the game, he'll conclude Week 10 with three catches (on three targets) for 10 yards and no touchdowns.
NOVEMBER 15, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Leads way for Lions Amendola logged seven receptions on 10 targets for 77 yards in Week 9 against the Vikings.
Impact Amendola took advantage of Kenny Golladay's (hip) absence to reach double-digit targets for the first time since Week 15 of the 2019 season. While the majority of his receptions went for short gains, Amendola did manage catches of 28 and 13 yards to account for over half of his production. Assuming Golladay is unable to return in Week 10 against Washington, Amendola should be expected to soak up plenty of targets once again.

NOVEMBER 5, 2020 • Associated Press
Catches three passes Amendola caught three of four targets for 54 yards during Sunday's 41-21 loss to the Colts.
Impact Amendola made a couple of nice grabs, but it was Marvin Hall (seven targets, four catches, 113 yards) who seemed to benefit more from the injury to Kenny Golladay (hip). However, the veteran did see seven targets in both of the games Golladay missed to begin the year, so it's possible that Hall's usage was fluky to some extent. In any case, Amendola should at least benefit from a Week 9 matchup against a Minnesota defense that has allowed the third-most yards per pass attempt (8.5) in 2020.
NOVEMBER 1, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Totals 62 yards Amendola caught three of four targets for 62 yards during Sunday's 23-22 victory over the Falcons.
Impact Most of Amendola's production came on a 36-yard catch in the second quarter where the veteran got open and made a short gain much longer. Considering Amendola still hasn't topped four targets in a game since Kenny Golladay returned from injury, he won't be an advisable fantasy option when Detroit takes on a tough Colts secondary Week 8.

Good to go Amendola (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Atlanta, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact Amendola will fill his usual role as the No. 3 receiver, though it hasn't been especially fruitful with the Lions making multi-TE formations a huge part of their offense this season. Amendola has played only 49 percent of the offensive snaps, and he hasn't seen more than four targets in a game since Week 2.

Another limited practice Amendola (foot) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Impact Amendola was able to match his activity level from Wednesday's practice, putting himself in good shape as Sunday's game against the Falcons. In order to avoid carrying a questionable designation into the contest, however, Amendola may need to upgrade from limited to full participation Friday in the Lions' final practice session of Week 7.
OCTOBER 22, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Limited to start week Amendola (foot) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Impact Amendola's ability to practice in at least a limited capacity seems to hint that he's still on track to suit up for Sunday's contest against the Falcons. However, he could need to successfully go through a full practice before being cleared. Fellow starting wideout Marvin Jones (knee) missed Wednesday's practice entirely.
OCTOBER 21, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Efficient with limited targets Amendola secured two of two targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 34-16 victory over Jacksonville.
Impact Amendola saw a season-low in targets on a day in which Kenny Golladay and D'Andre Swift stole the show for Detroit. After the veteran commanded seven targets in Golladay's absence in each of the first two weeks of the season, Amendola has only seen nine combined targets in three games since the Lions' No. 1 wideout returned. It will be hard to trust Amendola in Week 7 despite an appetizing matchup with a Falcons defense that ranks last in yards allowed per pass attempt (8.6) in 2020.
OCTOBER 20, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Totals 57 yards Amendola caught two of three targets for 57 yards during Sunday's 35-29 loss to New Orleans.
Impact Amendola carved up the Saints for a 50-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter, but he later followed it up with a disappointing unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the second quarter. With Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and T.J. Hockenson healthy, Amendola will remain on the fringes of the fantasy radar when the Lions come back from their Week 5 bye.
OCTOBER 4, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Sees dip in playing time Amendola caught one of four passes for 18 yards during Sunday's 26-23 win over Arizona.
Impact After comfortably seeing at least 50 percent of the snaps in every game he's been healthy for Detroit the past two seasons, Amendola fell to 45 percent Sunday. While the return of Kenny Golladay played a role in that, Detroit also attempted to control the clock by pounding the rock with Adrian Peterson in formations that frequently used just two receivers, where Amendola was the odd man out behind Golladay and Marvin Jones. Depending on how the Lions approach their Week 4 matchup with New Orleans, Amendola could return to his normal snap count proportions much sooner than later.

SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 • Associated Press
Seeing more passes without Golladay Amendola caught two of seven targets for 21 yards during Sunday's 42-21 loss to Green Bay.
Impact With Kenny Golladay (hamstring) again out of commission, Amendola again saw more targets than his career per-game average. However, outside of a solid, chain-moving catch on third-and-10, Amendola didn't make nearly as big of an impact as he did in the season opener, though Matthew Stafford did blow a chance to hit a wide-open Amendola down the right sideline at one point. It seems Golladay has a chance to return in Week 3 against the Cardinals, which may be a net positive for Amendola even if it costs him a downturn in targets.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Leads team in receiving Amendola caught five of seven targets for 81 yards during Sunday's 27-23 loss to Chicago.
Impact With more passes to go around in the absence of Kenny Golladay (hamstring), Amendola wound up pacing the team in catches and receiving yards despite finishing third in targets behind Quintez Cephus (10) and Marvin Jones (eight). While Amendola can't usually be counted on for this kind of production on a weekly basis after averaging 4.1 receptions and 45.2 receiving yards per game last season, he'll play a bigger role on days when Golladay or Jones aren't available. It's not clear if Golladay could return for Detroit's Week 2 matchup with Green Bay.
SEPTEMBER 13, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Active for season opener Amendola (hamstring) is active for Sunday's season opener against the Raiders.
Impact Amendola was not listed among the Lions' inactives, which clears the way for him to take the field in Week 1. With Kenny Golladay (hamstring) inactive for the opener, Amendola could see a few extra targets.
SEPTEMBER 13, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable for Week 1 Amendola (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Impact With Kenny Golladay doubtful due to his own hamstring injury, there's an opportunity for Amendola to see some extra targets if he's able to play. The veteran slot receiver was a limited practice participant throughout the week, potentially setting up a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Quintez Cephus and Marvin Hall are the Lions' main depth options at wide receiver, though return specialist Jamal Agnew could also take some snaps if needed.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Limited practice showing Amendola (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Impact After matching his activity from Wednesday's session, Amendola will likely need a full showing in Friday's practice to avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Bears. Amendola is projected to serve as Detroit's starting slot receiver after totaling 62 receptions for 678 yards and a touchdown in his first season with the Lions in 2019.
