INJURIES

Officially dealt to Jaguars Arnold was traded from the Panthers along with a third-round pick to the Jaguars on Monday in exchange for CB CJ Henderson and a fifth-round pick.
Impact Arnold had a modest role in the Panthers' offense early in the year after signing a two-year deal with the team during the offseason. He brought in seven of 11 targets for 84 yards across the first three weeks of the season, but he'll now have a chance to carve out a larger role in the Jaguars' offense, especially while James O'Shaughnessy (ankle) is on injured reserve.

Likely being traded to Jacksonville The Panthers are expected to trade Arnold to Jacksonville in a deal that includes Jaguars CB C.J. Henderson, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Arnold didn't have much competition for TE targets in Carolina, but he also wasn't needed for a large role, seeing 11 targets on 38.5 percent snap share through three weeks. He could get more playing time in Jacksonville, as the Jaguars are arguably even weaker than the Panthers at tight end, plus they're more likely to be forced into catch-up mode -- which is when a blocking-challenged TE like Arnold is more likely to see snaps and targets. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Jaguars were in the mix to sign Arnold back in March before he ultimately agreed to terms with Carolina.

Catches two passes Arnold caught two of four targets for 23 yards in Thursday night's 24-9 win over the Texans.
Impact Arnold's only unsuccessful targets came on tight-window throws while taking hits down the seam. Although he's had at least two catches in each game this season, Arnold hasn't enjoyed his signature performance as a Panther yet. In fact, he still played fewer snaps Thursday than fellow tight end Ian Thomas, and rookie Tommy Tremble actually performed the best of the group, finishing with 37 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. Carolina's depth at the position has hurt Arnold's upside, but he'll nonetheless strive to remain involved as a pass-catcher in Week 4 versus the Cowboys.

Strong showing Sunday Arnold caught three of four targets for 55 yards in Sunday's 26-7 win over the Saints.
Impact The tight end didn't see much target volume against his former club, but Arnold made his chances count, hauling in passes of 19, 19 and 17 yards in the first half to help the Panthers build a 17-0 lead. After a quiet showing in Carolina's opener, the Sam Darnold-D. Arnold connection appears to be gaining some momentum heading into Thursday's clash with a Texans defense that just coughed up 11 catches for 107 yards to Cleveland's tight ends.

Just two catches Arnold caught two of three targets for six yards in Sunday's 19-14 win over the Jets.
Impact Arnold approached Week 1 with steady praise from his initial practices as a Panther, but the offseason addition didn't make much of an impact in his regular-season debut for Carolina. In fact, backup Ian Thomas finished with more yards than Arnold, picking up 17 on his lone reception Sunday. Following an underwhelming opening performance, it'll be interesting to see whether Arnold gets more involved in Week 2 versus the Saints, one of his former teams.

Catches three passes Arnold caught all three of his targets for 25 yards in Friday night's 34-9 preseason win over the Steelers.
Impact Arnold's receptions all came from starting quarterback Sam Darnold during the first half, putting a bow on a promising first preseason with the Panthers. The veteran addition is now expected to serve as Carolina's starting tight end and is coming off a career-best campaign last term, making him one to watch going into the Week 1 matchup against the Jets.

Suits up Saturday Arnold made his Panthers debut but was not targeted on any of his eight snaps in Saturday's 20-3 preseason loss to the Ravens.
Impact Arnold sat out Carolina's exhibition opener but got a small taste of the action this weekend. With consistently positive reviews of his performance during training camp, Arnold's stock is on the rise heading into the upcoming campaign, and he'll perhaps get to show his stuff more in Friday's preseason finale versus the Steelers, when coach Matt Rhule hopes to play his starters for about a half.

Impressing at training camp Arnold has been one of the standout performers in Panthers training camp, Joseph Person of The Athletic reports.
Impact Arnold reportedly has 'caught everything thrown to him' as he rejoins Carolina's offensive coordinator Joe Brady after previously spending time with him in New Orleans. The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder signed with the Panthers this offseason after a career-best campaign with the Cardinals last year, and although his blocking can stand to improve, his familiarity and pass-catching prowess could add an extra dimension to Brady's scheme. Overall, that makes Arnold a worthwhile option to monitor in the buildup to the regular season.

Developing rapport with Darnold Arnold has shown a good connection with quarterback Sam Darnold during training camp, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Impact Arnold was signed this spring to improve a tight-end position that hardly produced for coordinator Joe Brady last season. The 26-year-old is fresh off career highs with the Cardinals, and despite switching to his third team in five years, Arnold has reportedly built an early rapport with his new quarterback in Carolina. Although the Panthers' top three weapons of Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore and Robby Anderson should dominate the touches, Arnold has a good chance to emerge as the team's fourth option this season.

Ready for next step Arnold said Tuesday that he's eager for the opportunity to take on a bigger role with the Panthers in 2021, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Impact Arnold signed a two-year deal with Carolina this offseason after posting a career-best 31 catches on 45 targets for 438 yards and four touchdowns for the Cardinals in 2020. Although Arnold will have to adjust to his third team in five years, the 26-year-old's solid campaign in the desert has him positioned to slot in as the Carolina's top tight end, a position where the team received little production from starter Ian Thomas last season. Rookie third-round pick Tommy Tremble also joins Arnold and Thomas ahead of the upcoming campaign, but Arnold is viewed as the current leader of the group and was able to get more comfortable with quarterback Sam Darnold over OTAs and minicamp.
