Impact McDonald was placed on injured reserve Sept. 16 due to a knee injury that he sustained in Week 1 against the Broncos. He's progressed enough in his recovery to return to practice, and the Chiefs will now have 21 days to activate McDonald from IR, otherwise he would be forced to miss the rest of the 2026 season.
