Productive again in loss Izien recorded 11 tackles (seven solo) including 1.0 sacks during Sunday's 32-26 loss at Carolina.

Impact Izien recorded the first sack of his career when he brought down quarterback Bryce Young for a loss of one early in the fourth quarter Sunday, and he totaled 11 tackles for the second straight game. His recent production should have put him on the IDP radar in most formats going into a Week 5 matchup at Arizona.

Racks up 11 stops in Week 3 Izien posted 11 tackles (nine solo) and one defensed pass Sunday in a 31-24 win over the Jets.

Impact Izien paced the Lions in stops while playing all but two of the team's defensive snaps. The 26-year-old appears to be fully recovered from the groin injury that caused him to sit out Detroit's season opener. Izien has taken on a starting safety role with Brian Branch (Achilles) and Kerby Joseph (knee) both on the PUP list.

SEPTEMBER 30 • ROTOWIRE

Full participant Monday Izien (groin) was considered to be a full participant at the Lions' walkthrough practice Monday.

Impact Izien was unavailable for the team's 31-30 overtime win against New Orleans on Sunday as a result of a groin issue, but he now appears to be on track to make his return to action in Week 2. The 26-year-old is expected to operate as a top reserve option behind Roger McCreary at slot cornerback, and his first test of the season will come Thursday night against the Bills.

SEPTEMBER 14 • ROTOWIRE

Not suiting up Izien (groin) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints.

Impact The safety logged limited practice sessions in the week leading up to the game and entered the weekend with a questionable tag. With Brian Branch (Achilles) and Kerby Joseph (knee) also unavailable for Sunday, the Lions will have to roll with Avonte Maddox, Chuck Clark and Thomas Harper as their safeties and Roger McCreary as their slot corner.

SEPTEMBER 13 • ROTOWIRE

Questionable with groin issue Izien (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints.

Impact Izien has dealt with a groin injury throughout Week 1, logging limited participation in three consecutive practices. It is unclear how much the issue inhibits the reserve defensive back. If Izien must miss Sunday's contest, the Lions will likely elevate a defensive back from the practice squad to the active roster to fill in for the missing Izien, Brian Branch (Achilles) and Kerby Joseph (knee).

Returning to training camp The Lions activated Izien (illness) off the active/non-football illness list Sunday, Justin Rogers of DetroitFootball.net reports.

AUGUST 3 • ROTOWIRE

Placed on NFI list The Lions placed Izien on the active/non-football illness list Tuesday.

Impact It's unclear how severe of an illness Izien is dealing with, but he'll be eligible to participate in practice once he has fully recovered from his ailment. Izien signed a one-year contract with the Lions in March after spending the first three years of his NFL career with the Buccaneers, where he mostly operated on special teams while occasionally working in the secondary in 2025. He finished last year with 25 tackles (16 solo) and one forced fumble across 14 regular-season games.

Inks deal with Detroit Izien signed a contract with the Lions on Friday.

Impact The terms of the deal are yet to be announced, but Izien will head to Detroit after calling Tampa Bay his home for the last three seasons. He played a prominent role in the Buccaneers' defense in 2023 and 2024 but saw his snaps on defense dip in 2025, finishing with 25 tackles (16 solo) and one forced fumble across 14 regular-season games. Izien will look to earn an expanded role on defense with the Lions, and he could get some starts early in 2026 season if one or both of Brian Branch (Achilles) and Kerby Joseph (knee) are not available.

MARCH 14 • ROTOWIRE

Not tendered by Tampa Bay The Bucs will not extend a restricted free agent tender to Izien prior to the start of the new league year next Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Izien, therefore, will be allowed to become an unrestricted free agent. The 25-year-old has appeared in 45 regular-season games for the Bucs over the last three seasons, logging 165 tackles (111 solo), five pass breakups, including three interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

MARCH 5 • ROTOWIRE

Logs eight tackles vs. Falcons Izien posted eight total tackles (four solo) and one forced fumble in Thursday's 29-28 loss to Falcons.

Impact After playing just 35 defensive snaps in 10 appearances prior to Thursday's loss, Izien was on the field for all 66 of Tampa Bay's defensive plays. The Rutgers product tied Lavonte David for the second-most tackles on the team and stripped Bijan Robinson in the third quarter, leading to a Buccaneers touchdown. He could have earned an expanded role on Tampa Bay's defense going forward, but he's still expected to back up Tykee Smith (neck) once he returns from injury.

Cleared to face Falcons Izien (neck) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Falcons, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Impact Izien upgraded to full practice participation Wednesday and avoided an injury designation for Thursday's game. Starting free safety Tykee Smith (neck/shoulder) is doubtful, which could lead to more opportunities for Izien or Kaevon Merriweather alongside starting strong safety Antoine Winfield.

DECEMBER 10, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Limited in Tuesday's walkthrough Izien (neck) was a limited participant in Tuesday's walkthrough practice.

Impact Izien didn't participate in Monday's walkthrough practice due to a neck injury, but he was cleared to work in at least a limited capacity during Tuesday's session. He would avoid an injury designation for Thursday night's game against the Falcons if he were to log a full practice Wednesday. If Izien is cleared to play, he would likely start at safety alongside Antoine Winfield if Tykee Smith (neck/shoulder) is unable to suit up.

DECEMBER 10, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Good to go against Niners Izien (quadriceps) is active for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Impact Izien has been cleared to return from a two-game absence due to a quadriceps injury that he picked up in Week 3 against the Jets. Izien has one solo tackle across two regular-season games and has been limited to special teams this year.

Won't play at Seattle Coach Todd Bowles said Friday that Izien (quadriceps) is out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Impact Izien will sit out for a second straight game as he continues to recover from a quad injury he picked up in Week 3 versus the Jets. In his absence, Kaevon Merriweather could see an uptick in reps in the secondary in Week 5.

Out for Sunday Izien (quadriceps) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Impact The 25-year-old from Rutgers was unable to practice both Wednesday and Thursday due to a quadriceps injury, so it's no surprise he'll be unavailable Sunday. Expect Kaevon Merriweather to serve as Tampa Bay's top reserve safety while Izien is sidelined in Week 4.

SEPTEMBER 26, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Won't return due to quad injury Izien has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Jets due to a quadriceps injury.

Impact Izien picked up the injury in the first half, and it has been deemed severe enough that he won't return to Sunday's contest. Kaevon Merriweather will be the Bucs' top reserve safety behind Tykee Smith and Antoine Winfield for the rest of the game due Izien's injury.
