Healthy ahead of Week 1

Impact
Allen is the only one of the quartet whose status for Week 1 appears to be up in the air, but Rodriguez nonetheless is poised for a regular role in Jacksonville's offense. What kind of workload that entails remains to be seen, but Tuten is Rodriguez's primary competitor for touches. At least when it comes to short-yardage and goal-line usage, the more imposing Rodriguez likely will handle those after earning 33 carries inside the 20-yard line last season for the Commanders. The Jaguars' season opener against the Browns on Sunday, Sept. 13 ultimately will provide insight into what to expect from the duo.

Lauded in camp for power running
Rodriguez has drawn positive reviews for his power-running style during training camp, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Impact
Signed to a two-year, $10 million deal in March, Rodriguez made a full recovery from offseason foot surgery in advance of training camp and has been listed as co-starter with Bhayshul Tuten on the Jaguars' unofficial depth chart. With both Rodriguez and Tuten sitting out Jacksonville's first two preseason contests, it's been difficult to gauge how the snaps might be divvied up between the two once the regular season gets underway. While Rodriguez has lived up to his billing in camp as a bruising runner between the tackles, Shipley relays that Tuten "has done nothing to diminish the early-offseason hype." With that in mind, both players appear likely to have meaningful roles in the running game Week 1 versus the Browns, and the two could also see more involvement on passing downs if LeQuint Allen (undisclosed) isn't available for the start of the season. Shipley opines that Rodriguez is probably the Jaguars' best pass-blocking back other than Allen, though Rodriguez could play second fiddle to the shiftier Tuten when it comes to earning targets.

Deemed co-starter on unofficial depth chart
Bhayshul Tuten and Rodriguez are listed as co-starters on the Jaguars' initial unofficial depth chart, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Impact
While preseason depth charts posted by NFL teams are indeed unofficial, the 'Tuten or Rodriguez' listing isn't unexpected, as the Jaguars seem to be trending toward employing a committee approach, possibly resulting in Tuten and Rodriguez forming a 1A/1B combo, with LeQuint Allen mixing in on third downs, to fill the void created by the offseason departure of Travis Etienne. In that context, Rodriguez could see enough touches out of the gate this season alongside Tuten to merit fantasy lineup consideration in deeper formats.

Active practice Thursday
Rodriguez had his most active practice of training camp thus far on Thursday, according to John Shipley of SI.com.
Impact
Per Shipley, where Rodriguez, who took several carries in team drills, stood out the most Thursday, was when the Jaguars ran plays backed up at their own one-yard line, a scenario in which all of Rodriguez's carries went for positive yards during the session. Shipley adds that the free-agent addition, who profiles as a power back, could carve out a key role when it comes to goal-line carries, an area that fellow RB Bhayshul Tuten made his mark in last season. In any case, looking ahead to Week 1, a committee approach featuring Tuten and Rodriguez seems a likely outcome, with LeQuint Allen also in the mix to handle complementary backfield touches.

Works in team drills again
Rodriguez (foot) worked in team drills for a second consecutive day during Monday's practice, John Oehser and John Shipley of the Jaguars' official site report.
Impact
Rodriguez, who is bouncing back from an offseason left foot procedure, had worked only in individual drills during training camp's first three practices, but he's been able to upgrade his participation level since then, and in the process had several long runs during Monday's session. As the summer progresses, Rodriguez and Bhayshul Tuten are in line to compete for the Jaguars' RB1 job following Travis Etienne's free-agent departure. While Tuten had the advantage of getting a head start due to Rodriguez's injury, the team's backfield pecking order has yet to be solidified ahead of Week 1, with a committee approach featuring Tuten and Rodriguez a likely outcome, with LeQuint Allen also a candidate to mix in.

Progressing in recovery
Rodriguez (foot) participated in team drills during Sunday's training camp practice, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Impact
Rodriguez has yet to participate fully in practice while working his way back from offseason surgery on his left foot. However, the fourth-year pro participated in team drills for the first time in training camp and even saw work with the first-team offense, per Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union. Rodriguez and Bhayshul Tuten continue to battle for the RB1 job following Travis Etienne's departure to New Orleans in free agency, but Tuten figures to see the bulk of carries in practice and preseason games until Rodriguez is fully healthy.

Impact
"It's a long training camp," head coach Liam Coen said. "It's a long season. We're trying to get (Rodriguez) back, without any sort of hiccups or bumps." Bhayshul Tuten is getting an early opportunity to build rapport with the first-team offense for the Jaguars, who let Travis Etienne walk in free agency and added Rodriguez in the offseason. Rodriguez's regular-season availability isn't in question at the moment, but it may take a while for him to ramp up to full participation in training camp.

On field at training camp
Rodriguez (foot) is participating in Wednesday's training camp practice, J.P. Shadrick of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Impact
Rodriguez only handled individual work Wednesday, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports, but the new Jacksonville running back has been cleared and will be ready for full-team drills after a ramp-up period. He missed OTAs and mandatory minicamp due to an offseason foot procedure. Once ready to take part in full-team reps, Rodriguez will compete for backfield touches alongside Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen.
