Cleared of positive COVID-19 test Jones' placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday was the result of a close contact through tracing rather than a positive test by the defensive lineman, Nate Taylor of The At...

Impact Kansas City shut down its team facility and held a remote practice Thursday after a staff member tested positive earlier in the day. It's unclear if that staff member or another infected person was in close contact with Jones, but regardless, he won't be eligible to rejoin the team for at least five days in accordance with the NFL's rules for players placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Jones won't be able to play in Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Placed on COVID-19 list The Chiefs have placed Jones on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Impact Jones' placement on the list means that he either tested positive for COVID-19 or has been in close contact with an infected person or persons.

Resumes practicing in full Jones (groin) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Impact Jones was limited due to a groin injury Wednesday, but he's already managed to resume handling unrestricted practice reps. The star defensive tackle has 4.5 sacks on the season, a total which he'll look to boost against the Jets' hapless O-line on Sunday.

Groin issue resurfaces Jones was a limited practice participant Wednesday with a groin injury, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.

Impact The 26-year-old sat out Week 4 with the groin issue but played in each of the past three contests, though he apparently aggravated the injury Sunday against the Broncos as he played a season-low 52 percent of defensive snaps. The fact Jones is still practicing in some capacity is a good sign, but he may need to progress to full participation by the end of the week to avoid an injury designation this weekend.

Records sack in victory Jones finished with three tackles (two solo and a tackle for loss) and a sack in Sunday's win over the Broncos.

Impact Jones has registered a sack in three of the five contests he's played in 2020, sitting with 4.5 sacks on the year. He'll score a favorable matchup again in Week 8 against the winless Jets.

Ready to rock Jones (groin) was a full participant during Thursday's practice.

Impact Jones was limited at practice Wednesday with the groin injury, but as evidenced by this news, the injury doesn't appear serious. Now healthy, expect the Mississippi State product to assume his usual starting role at defensive tackle for Week 5.

Logs limited practice Jones (groin) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

Impact Jones sat out Week 4 despite logging limited sessions all week, so we shouldn't read into his Wednesday practice capacity too much. The star defensive tackle avoided a setback, however, and he has two more practices to get up to full speed. If he can't play Sunday versus the Raiders, expect Tershawn Wharton and Mike Pennel to split time in his place.

Won't play Monday Jones (groin) is officially inactive for Monday's game against the Patriots, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.

Impact The 26-year-old received the questionable tag after practicing as a limited participant all week, but he won't be suiting up for Week 4. Kansas City will hold him out in a precautionary move, according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic, as Monday's contest is the first of three games in the next 11 days. Tershawn Wharton and Mike Pennel should see increased reps for the Chiefs in his absence.

Questionable to face Pats Jones (groin) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Jones put together a trio of limited practice sessions while dealing with a groin issue, an injury he picked up during Monday's win over the Ravens. In the event that Jones is held to a snap count Sunday, or even forced to miss time, Tershawn Wharton and Mike Pennel would stand to handle increased defensive snaps.

OCTOBER 2, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Officially limited Wednesday Jones (groin) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

Impact Jones entered Week 3 against the Ravens with this groin injury but still managed to play 70 percent of defensive snaps, recording five tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. The fact that he practiced in some capacity Wednesday bodes well for his availability against the Patriots on Sunday.

SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Not practicing Wednesday Jones (groin) isn't expected to practice Wednesday, Adam Teicher of ESPN NFL Nation reports.

Impact Jones played through the groin injury Monday against the Ravens and produced two strip-sacks on Lamar Jackson, but the injury remains a hindrance for the standout defensive lineman. He'll look to up his practice participation as the week goes on to put Jones in position to suit up against the Patriots come Sunday.

SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Two sacks Monday Jones (groin) recorded five tackles (three solo), two sacks and two forced fumbles across 39 defensive snaps in Monday's win over the Ravens.

Impact Jones made it difficult for reigning-MVP Lamar Jackson to do virtually anything all night, strip-sacking the quarterback twice in the contest. His five tackles were also a single-game high on the young season. However, Jones was bothered by a groin injury toward the end of the contest, so look for updates on his status to come once the practice report is released later this week.

SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Dealing with groin injury Jones suffered a groin injury near the end of Monday night's game against the Ravens, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.

Impact The severity of the injury is unclear at this time. Jones will likely be evaluated further in the coming days to determine his availability for Sunday's matchup with New England.

SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Starts season strong Jones recorded four tackles (three solo) and 1.5 sacks during Thursday's 34-20 win over the Texans.

Impact Jones, who racked up a team-leading nine sacks across 13 contests in 2019, didn't waste any time picking up where he left off. The star defensive tackle will suit up against the Chargers in Week 2 as one of the top IDP options at his position.

SEPTEMBER 11, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Back at practice Jones (groin) returned to practice Friday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.

Impact Jones missed nearly a week of practice with this groin injury but is back in the fold with three weeks to prepare for the season opener versus Houston. The 26-year-old defensive tackle battled a groin injury in 2019 but still recorded over 40 snaps per game, 36 total tackles and nine sacks.

AUGUST 23, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Not practicing Saturday Jones did not practice Saturday due to a groin injury, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.

Impact It's not known how serious the injury might be, but given the lack of clarity regarding the issue, it's unlikely the highly paid defensive tackle will miss much time.

AUGUST 15, 2020 • ROTOWIRE

Lands $85 million extension Jones' four-year extension with Kansas City is worth $85 million, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Impact Per the report, the star defensive tackle's new deal with the team includes $60 million in guarantees. Jones will thus remain a key cog in Kansas City's defensive corps for at least the next few years, with his agreement with the team coming on the heels of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' recent mega-extension.
