Cade Otton - NFL News, Rumors, & Updates

One catch in Week 6 loss Otton caught one of two targets for four yards in Sunday's 26-19 overtime loss to the Steelers.

Impact Otton ws targeted on just two of Jalon Daniels' 43 pass attempts, good for a lousy 4.7 percent share. The tight end has yet to catch a touchdown this season and has been held below 40 yards in five of six contests. He's a low-floor fantasy option at the position who is best left on waivers.

Logs three catches in victory Thursday night Otton caught three of four targets for 25 yards in a 24-16 win over Dallas on Thursday.

Impact Otton was active early, catching two passes on the Buccaneers' first drive. However, he logged only two more targets and one more reception -- an 11-yarder that helped set up a field goal in the third quarter -- the rest of the way. The 25 total yards were a low mark so far this season for the veteran tight end, who has caught between three and five passes in all five of Tampa Bay's games so far. That at least gives him a reliable floor, but Otton doesn't have a very high week-to-week fantasy ceiling.

Leads team in receiving Week 4 Otton caught four of six targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Packers.

Impact With rookie Jalon Daniels making his first career start, he leaned on Otton in the passing game, and the tight end ended up leading the team in receiving yards despite seeing one fewer target than Chris Godwin. Otton has turned 23 targets into 15 catches for 157 yards through four games this season.

Produces 56 yards in Week 3 defeat Otton tallied three catches on six targets for 56 yards Sunday in a loss to the Vikings.

Impact Otton finished second on the Bucs in both targets and receiving yards in his best game of 2026 to date. The majority of the tight end's receiving yardage came on a 37-yard connection with Baker Mayfield midway through the second quarter. However, Mayfield is expected to miss at least three weeks of action due to a thumb injury, so Otton will be working with rookie undrafted QB Jalon Daniels over the next few games.

Leads Bucs with five catches in Week 2 loss Otton caught five of six targets for 38 yards during the Buccaneers' 23-19 loss to the Browns on Sunday.

Impact Four of the five passes Otton caught went for 10 yards or less, but he still led all Bucs pass catchers with five receptions while finishing third in receiving yards to Tez Johnson (49) and Chris Godwin (46). Otton played 58 of 65 offensive snaps (89.2 percent) and has served as security blanket in the passing game for Baker Mayfield. That said, Otton may be used more as a pass blocker Week 3 against the Vikings and their blitz-happy defense under defensive coordinator Brian Flores.

Posts 26 yards in Week 1 loss Otton caught three of five targets for 26 yards in Tampa Bay's loss to the Bengals on Sunday.

Impact Otton played 56 of 57 offensive snaps and ran 31 routes on Baker Mayfield's 36 dropbacks. His five targets were good for third on the team, trailing only Bucky Irving's seven and Emeka Egbuka's six. Otton plays virtually every snap, but he's a low-floor, low-upside fantasy option who caught just one touchdown last season.

Remains No. 1 TE on depth chart Otton is listed as the No. 1 TE on the Buccaneers' unofficial depth chart.

Impact Aside from adding sixth-round rookie Bauer Sharp to the TE room this offseason, it's status quo for the position group in 2026, with all of Otton, Payne Durham and Ko Kieft back. Otton himself re-signed with Tampa Bay on a three-year, $30 million contract in March to retain his standing as the team's top tight end. Over the last two regular seasons, he's recorded exactly 59 catches on both occasions, totaling 1,172 yards and five touchdowns on 168 targets across 30 contests.

Back at practice Otton (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Impact Otton missed about a week of action for the Bucs, and it's unclear if he'll play in Friday's preseason finale against Jacksonville. Last season, Otton matched his career high with 59 catches across 16 regular-season games, turning them into 572 yards and one touchdown. He's expected to be the third or fourth option in Tampa Bay's passing attack in 2026.

Sitting with undisclosed injury Otton isn't practicing Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Impact The Buccaneers haven't revealed the nature of Otton's injury nor its severity, but the fifth-year player appears unlikely to be available for the team's next preseason game Saturday versus the Chiefs. When healthy, Otton projects to take on heavy snap shares on a weekly basis as Tampa Bay's No. 1 tight end, but he isn't expected to be much more than a third or fourth option in the passing game for quarterback Baker Mayfield and has never been a major red-zone target (11 touchdowns in 63 career games).

AUGUST 18 • ROTOWIRE

Idle for preseason opener Otton did not play in Friday's 24-16 preseason win over the Jets.

Impact Otton was the only Buccaneers tight end to not suit up Friday, with rookie sixth-rounder Bauer Sharp leading the position group with 28 snaps on offense, followed by Devin Culp (21). None of the Bucs starters played, but Otton and the rest of the first-team offense could see some action against the Chiefs on Saturday, Aug. 22. The fifth-year tight end is looking to build off a 2025 campaign in whcih he caught 59 passes (on 81 targets) for 572 yards and a touchdown over 16 regular-season games.
