His projected role with the Commanders remains unclear, as the team can tender restricted free agent Joey Slye up until 4:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Johnson split the 2021 campaign between New Orleans and Washington, combining to hit all 10 of his field-goal attempts but only nine of his 13 extra-point attempts.

Cody Parkey, who will be placed on IR on Tuesday, could also be an option to kick for the Saints later in the season if he returns before Lutz and if Johnson doesn't impress.
