INJURIES

Full participant in Wednesday's practice Sinnott (oblique) practiced in full Wednesday.
Impact Sinnott has been battling an oblique injury since the preseason. However, his full participation in Wednesday's practice suggests he is cleared to suit up for the Week 1 meeting with the Eagles. The 24-year-old appeared in 16 regular-season games for the Commanders in 2025, totaling 11 catches for 114 yards and one touchdown.

Impact Sinnott won't practice this week after sustaining the oblique injury in this past Saturday's 17-13 preseason loss to the Lions. Quinn didn't indicate that Sinnott's availability for the Commanders' Sept. 13 season opener versus the Eagles is in any peril, but the third-year tight end will need to return to full practice at some point over the next two-plus weeks to put himself on a path to play.

Impact New offensive coordinator David Blough is emphasizing versatility in his tight end room, which includes Sinnott, Chig Okonkwo and John Bates, among others. Okonkwo is expected to get most of the pass-catching opportunities at the position. Sinnott hasn't shown much in that department, as the 2024 second-round pick has just 16 catches through 33 regular-season games.

Difficult path to targets again Sinnott has a chance to earn a larger role in 2026, but free-agent signing Chig Okonkwo figures to replace Zach Ertz (knee) as Washington's top pass-catching tight end, according t...
Impact With Kliff Kingsbury calling plays the past two seasons, Sinnott drew just 18 targets in 33 regular-season games (652 snaps). New offensive coordinator David Blough may have a somewhat larger role in mind, but the recent Okonkwo signing (three years, $30 million) hints at Sinnott and John Bates mostly blocking again. Bates is a better blocker, and he signed an extension last March, putting Sinnott at risk of a third straight season as merely the No. 3 TE in Washington. Sinnott may even enter training camp on the roster bubble, albeit with age (24 in June), draft capital (53rd overall in 2024) and athleticism (4.68 40) working in his favor.

FEBRUARY 13 • RIGGOSRAG.COM
Held to three yards in Week 18 Sinnott caught both of his targets for three yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over Philadelphia.
Impact The 2024 second-round pick finishes his second NFL season with a 11-114-1 receiving line on 13 targets. Sinnott played more than 50 percent of offensive snaps in each of the final four games, catching seven of nine targets for 73 yards during that stretch. The Commanders likely are in need of a new starting tight end with Zach Ertz recovering from an ACL tear and scheduled for free agency, but Sinnott hasn't shown much of anything to suggest he can be that player. There's still late-breakout argument, depending on Washington's offseason moves in the coming months.
JANUARY 5 • ROTOWIRE
Makes three grabs vs. Cowboys Sinnott secured three of four targets for 29 yards during Thursday's 30-23 loss to Dallas.
Impact Sinnott logged his first game of the season with more than a single grab during Washington's loss on Christmas Day, though he recorded a higher yardage total Week 15 versus the Giants due to a 36-yard downfield catch. The second-year pro played 61 percent of offensive snaps versus the Cowboys. Sinnott will close out the year as Washington's starting tight end during the team's regular-season finale on the road against Philadelphia in Week 18.

Muted output again Sinnott caught one pass on two targets for five yards during the Commanders' 29-18 loss to the Eagles on Saturday.
Impact Sinnott's lone catch came midway through the fourth quarter, when he hauled in a five-yard pass from Josh Johnson, the latter of whom replaced Marcus Mariota (hand) in the third frame. Sinnott has caught one pass in each of his last three games, and while his snap count on offense has increased after Zach Ertz tore his ACL in Week 14 against the Vikings, the former's offensive production has not. Next up for Sinnott and the Commanders is an NFC East home tilt against the Cowboys on Christmas Day.

Catches one pass vs. Giants Sinnott caught his lone target for 36 yards in Sunday's 29-21 win over the Giants.
Impact In Sinnott's first full game without Zach Ertz (knee), he logged a season-high 34 offensive snaps and finished with the third-most receiving yards on the Commanders. The 2024 second-round pick from Kansas State has now caught all five of his targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in 13 appearances this season. Sinnott may have an expanded offensive role and serve as Washington's top pass-catching tight end in the Week 16 matchup against the Eagles.

Catches lone target in Week 14 loss Sinnott caught his lone target for an eight-yard gain during Washington's 31-0 loss to Minnesota on Sunday.
Impact Sinnott played just 13 of 52 offensive snaps (25 percent), but the second-year tight end's role should be larger over the final four games of the regular season after Zach Ertz tore his ACL during Sunday's loss. With Ertz done for the year, Sinnott and John Bates will be the top tight end options on the Commanders' active roster while practice squad member Lawrence Cager provides depth at the position.
DECEMBER 9, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Cleared for Week 13 Sinnott (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation ahead of Washington's matchup versus the Broncos on Sunday.
Impact Sinnott is healthy again after sustaining an ankle injury in the Week 10 loss to Detroit. The 2024 second-round pick should resume his role as the team's No. 3 tight end against Denver.
