Works out with Chiefs The Chiefs worked out Sauls (undisclosed) on Wednesday, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.

Impact The Giants waived Sauls with an injury settlement before the start of the regular season, but he's now apparently back in playing shape. Kansas City is exploring alternative options at kicker after a poor start to the season from veteran Harrison Butker (11-of-16 on field-goal tries).

Ben Sauls could solve growing problem after heartbreaking Giants cut Ben Sauls might be done with the New York Giants, but one team’s shaky kicking situation could make his next NFL stop painfully obvious.

SEPTEMBER 1 • GMENHQ.COM

Waived after injury settlement Sauls (undisclosed) was waived after reaching an injury settlement with the Giants on Sunday, Dan Salomone & Matt Citak of the team's official website report.

Impact Sauls entered training camp in a competition with rookie Dominic Zvada for the starting kicker job in New York this season, but he ultimately lost the job. Sauls went 3-for-3 on field-goal tries, including a 46-yard make, and he converted his only PAT, but he also suffered an undisclosed injury at some point along the way. Now that he has reached a settlement with the team, he will have the chance to pass a physical and sign elsewhere instead of spending the season on injured reserve with the Giants.

In two-way race for kicking job Sauls is set to compete during training camp with undrafted rookie Dominic Zvada for the Giants' primary kicker role, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

Impact Sauls latched on with New York late last season after entering the league with Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent. He was the Giants' kicker in Weeks 16-18 and went 8-for-8 on field-goal attempts and 7-for-7 on extra-point tries. It remains to be seen, though, how big of a leg Sauls has, as his longest kick last year was from a modest 45 yards. New York parted ways with long-time kicker Graham Gano (neck) in late March, leaving Sauls as the most likely option to begin the 2026 campaign as the team's primary kicker. However, Zvada could challenge for the role with a strong training camp after a decorated college career that included the most field goals (seven) made from 50-plus yards in Michigan history.

Emerges as reliable option as rookie Sauls made all four of his field-goal tries and both of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 34-17 Week 18 win over Dallas. He finished the campaign having gone 8-for-8 of FG attem...

Impact Sauls was initially signed by Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent and also spent time with Atlanta before latching on with the Giants in mid-November. When veteran kicker Graham Gano (neck) landed on IR around the same time, New York first turned to Younghoe Koo, but Sauls eventually got his chance after Koo was cut in mid-December. In his three contests to close the campaign, Sauls didn't miss a kick, though it has to be noted that only one of his FG tries -- a successful 45-yarder to open the scoring this past Sunday -- came from 40 or more yards out. Still, Sauls did nothing to suggest he can't be a reliable NFL kicker, and he could begin next season in that role for the Giants if the team decides to part ways with the oft-injured Gano.
