Sauls went 3-for-3 on field-goal tries, including a 46-yard make, and he converted his only PAT, but he also suffered an undisclosed injury at some point along the way. Now that he has reached a settlement with the team, he will have the chance to pass a physical and sign elsewhere instead of spending the season on injured reserve with the Giants.

Impact Sauls latched on with New York late last season after entering the league with Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent. He was the Giants' kicker in Weeks 16-18 and went 8-for-8 on field-goal attempts and 7-for-7 on extra-point tries. It remains to be seen, though, how big of a leg Sauls has, as his longest kick last year was from a modest 45 yards. New York parted ways with long-time kicker Graham Gano (neck) in late March, leaving Sauls as the most likely option to begin the 2026 campaign as the team's primary kicker. However, Zvada could challenge for the role with a strong training camp after a decorated college career that included the most field goals (seven) made from 50-plus yards in Michigan history.

When veteran kicker Graham Gano (neck) landed on IR around the same time, New York first turned to Younghoe Koo, but Sauls eventually got his chance after Koo was cut in mid-December. In his three contests to close the campaign, Sauls didn't miss a kick, though it has to be noted that only one of his FG tries -- a successful 45-yarder to open the scoring this past Sunday -- came from 40 or more yards out. Still, Sauls did nothing to suggest he can't be a reliable NFL kicker, and he could begin next season in that role for the Giants if the team decides to part ways with the oft-injured Gano.
