Impact The safety was waived from injured reserve by the Commanders in August after reaching an injury settlement with the team. Nikkel recorded 43 tackles and three pass breakups during his two collegiate seasons at Iowa State.

Let go with injury settlement The Commanders waived Nikkel (undisclosed) from injured reserve after reaching an injury settlement Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Nikkel was waived by the Commanders on Aug. 20 with an undisclosed injury designation, and he reverted to the team's IR one day later after going unclaimed off waivers. That would've forced him to miss the entire 2024 season, but with the injury settlement, Nikkel can now join another team once he's fully healthy.
