INJURIES

Let go from Jets' practice squad The Jets cut Williams from the practice squad Tuesday, Susanna Weir of the team's official site reports.
Impact The move makes room on the Jets' practice squad for fellow wide receiver Trenton Irwin. Williams joined the Jets' practice squad Oct. 3 and was elevated for Week 5 loss to the Cowboys, when he returned five kickoffs for 133 yards and four punts for 41 yards across 12 snaps on special teams. Williams should garner interest from teams looking for another return option on special teams.

Reverts to practice squad Williams reverted to the Jets' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Williams played 12 snaps on special teams as a returner during Sunday's 40-6 loss against the Colts, and he made the most of his opportunity by logging 133 yards on five kick returns and 41 yards on four punt returns. It marked the first time Williams had been elevated to the Jets' active roster this season, and he could reprise his return role on special teams for Week 6 against the Broncos if Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) is unable to play.
OCTOBER 7 • ROTOWIRE
Elevated from practice squad The Jets elevated Williams from the practice squad Saturday.
Impact Williams will give the Jets another option on kickoff and punt returns after Isaiah Williams lost a fumble in the role last Monday night and was subsequently cut Saturday.

Joins Jets' practice squad Williams signed with the Jets' practice squad Friday.
Impact The 2021 fifth-round pick from Boise State was dropped by the Eagles' in late August after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster, but he's since found a new home with the Jets. Williams last appeared in 17 regular-season games for the Falcons in 2022, recording 22 carries for 109 yards and one touchdown.

Dropped by Philadelphia Williams was released by the Eagles on Tuesday.
Impact Williams operated exclusively as a return-specialist during the preseason, returning two kickoffs for 49 yards, while also adding 26 yards on four punt returns. The wide receiver played in all 17 regular-season games over each of the last two seasons with the Falcons, and he will likely not have to wait long for another opportunity ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Bound for Philadelphia Williams signed a contract with the Eagles on Friday, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Williams was limited to return duties with the Falcons in 2024, finishing the regular season with 408 kick return yards and 185 punt return yards across 17 games. He'll likely share those responsibilities with Cooper DeJean in Philadelphia, but Williams will have a chance to compete with Will Shipley and AJ Dillon for backup duties out of the backfield behind Saquon Barkley.
MARCH 14 • ROTOWIRE
Limited to return duties in 2024 Williams did not record a carry or target across 17 regular-season games in 2024, but he did finish with 408 kick return yards and 185 punt return yards.
Impact After sitting out the entire 2023 campaign due to a torn ACL in his knee, Williams was able to earn a spot on the Falcons' 53-man roster for the 2024 campaign. With the Falcons' backfield dominated by Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, Williams was exclusively used on special teams as a returner on both kickoffs and punts, but he managed to record six tackles (two solo) while on coverage duties. Williams will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent and should get plenty of interest from teams looking to add a return specialist who could also contribute out of the backfield.
JANUARY 30 • ROTOWIRE
Remains limited to special teams Williams played all 24 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Vikings, bringing back one punt for an 11-yard return.
Impact The reserve running back logged 22 carries for Atlanta in 2022, but he's been deployed exclusively on special teams in 2024 with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier having both enjoyed good health this season. Williams has suited up in each of the Falcons' first 13 games and has gained 135 yards on 15 punt returns and 210 yards on 35 kickoff returns.
DECEMBER 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Strictly special teams in Week 7 Williams brought back a kickoff for 21 yards and played all 23 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 34-14 loss to the Seahawks.
Impact Though he's listed as a running back, Williams hasn't logged any touches out of the backfield since the 2022 season and is on the Falcons' roster solely due to his role a kickoff and punt returner. Until Sunday, Jase McClellan had been inactive as the Falcons' No. 4 running back, but the rookie sixth-round pick suited up against the Seahawks and ended up getting five carries in garbage time rather than Williams when Atlanta rested top backs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier late in the game.
