Lands on IR The Steelers placed Miller (shoulder) on injured reserve Tuesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Impact As expected, Miller lands on injured reserve after news that he'd miss the remainder of the 2022 season with a shoulder injury. The 2018 second-round pick didn't suit up for Saturday's preseason contest against Seattle, but it's unclear when he sustained the injury.

Done for season Miller (shoulder) has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2022 season, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Impact Miller didn't suit up for Saturday's preseason contest against Seattle due to the issue, but it's unclear when he suffered the injury. The 2018 second-round pick had been making a strong case for a spot on the Steelers' initial 53-man roster, so it's a tough blow to Pittsburgh and Miller, who'll likely be placed on season-ending IR in the near future.

Impact Miller also dealt with a right shoulder injury during the Texans' training camp last year, though it's unclear if he aggravated this pre-existing issue this preseason. The 27-year-old wideout's health could affect his ultimate chances of making Pittsburgh's final 53-man roster before the team's Week 1 opener on Sept. 11. When healthy, Miller likely will compete with Cody White, Gunner Olszewski and Christian Blake for one of the team's last spots at wideout this preseason.

Impact Saunders adds that the injury likely occurred late during the Steelers' practice Thursday given the previously unknown nature of the issue. The 27-year-old wideout battled a dislocated right shoulder last preseason and was released by the Texans in October after playing just two games with the team in 2021. It's unclear if this same issue has anything to do with Miller's absence Saturday, though he figures to compete for a spot on the Steelers' final 53-man roster when healthy this preseason.

Making case for roster spot Miller has been making a strong case for a spot on the Steelers' 53-man roster early in training camp, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.

Impact Miller signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers in January but has made some strong plays over the first few days of camp. The 28-year-old is familiar with the team's system after spending time on Pittsburgh's practice squad in 2021, and he's attempting to carve out a role as a slot receiver and returner ahead of the preseason.

Clears COVID protocols Miller was restored to the Steelers' practice squad from the COVID-19 list Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.

Impact Miller can return to practice with the Steelers now that he has cleared protocols.

Hits practice squad COVID list The Steelers have placed Miller on their practice squad's reserve/COVID-19 list.

Impact Via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Miller's placement on the COVID list is the result of a positive test. As a result, Miller will be required to pass league protocols before returning to practice.

Back to practice squad Miller reverted to the Steelers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Impact Miller played 25 of 60 offensive snaps in his Pittsburgh debut, and he caught his only target for two yards. The 27-year-old will now compete for another opportunity for a game-day elevation.

Minimal impact against Bengals Miller secured his lone target for two yards in Sunday's 41-10 loss to the Bengals.

Impact Miller was elevated from the Steelers' practice squad for Sunday's matchup since Ray-Ray McCloud (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. Although the 27-year-old was on the field for 40 percent of Pittsburgh's offensive snaps, he failed to generate much production during his first appearance with the team.

Elevated to active roster The Steelers elevated Miller to the active roster Saturday for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Miller joined the Steelers' practice squad in October, but he will get his first chance on the active roster in Week 12. With Ray-Ray McCloud likely unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols, the 2018 second-round pick could see some snaps in four-wideout sets against the Bengals. However, the majority of the targets will likely be consumed by Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool.

Ends up in Pittsburgh Miller was signed to the Steelers' practice squad Tuesday.

Impact After being brought in for a physical Tuesday, Miller was officially added to the practice squad. He was able to reel in 49 catches for 485 yards and two touchdowns last season with the Bears, but only had five receptions for 23 yards and a score with the Texans in 2021 before being released Oct. 6. With JuJu Smith-Schuster (shoulder) likely out for the remainder of the season, Miller could prove to be a valuable addition to Pittsburgh.

Could join Steelers The Steelers plan to bring Miller in for a physical Tuesday, Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network reports.

Impact Previous reports suggested that Miller was expected to join the Jaguars' practice squad, but with JuJu Smith-Schuster facing shoulder surgery and an extended absence, there could be a more immediate path to playing time for Miller in Pittsburgh. The team's top two healthy receivers are Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool, with James Washington currently dealing with a groin injury.

Getting chance with Jags Miller is expected to join the Jaguars' practice squad Monday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.

Impact Miller was cut by the Texans just last week, after having appeared in two games for the team and secured five of 11 targets for 23 yards and a score. The Jaguars may feel motivated to surround rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence with more talent now that playmakers DJ Chark (ankle) and Travis Etienne (foot) are both out of commission, but Miller hasn't exactly proven to be a reliable playmaker in recent years. A 2018 second-round pick, he impressed with seven touchdowns as a rookie but has scored just five times since then.

Production drops off due to QB Miller caught one of five targets for three yards in Sunday's 40-0 loss to the Bills.

Impact One week after scoring a touchdown in his season debut, Miller was not on the same page with rookie quarterback Davis Mills, who did not have a good game. He threw four interceptions and completed just 11 of 21 attempts. That's not a recipe for wideout productivity. The good news is that Miller is one of the top options in the Texans offense, with 11 targets the last two weeks, behind only Brandin Cooks.

Finds end zone in loss Miller secured four of six targets for 20 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 24-9 loss to the Panthers on Thursday night.

Impact Miller's one-yard touchdown reception on a quick slant in the second quarter was the highlight of the contest for the Davis Mills-led Texans offense. The 2018 second-round pick was seeing his first action of the season due to Danny Amendola's (thigh) absence, and Miller finished tied with Jordan Akins for second-most catches on the team for the night. It remains to be seen if Miller, a healthy scratch over the first two games of the season, will be able to garner active status in Week 4 against the Bills.
