Converts all five kicks vs. Tampa Bay Szmyt made all three of his field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries during the Browns' 23-19 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Impact Szmyt tied things up at 3-3 with a 50-yard field goal midway through the first quarter before connecting on two, 34-yard field goals across the next two frames. It was the first time since Week 11 of the 2025 season that Szmyt connected on three field goals, and his production will fluctuate on a week-to-week basis given the Browns' inconsistency on offense. He's made all seven of his kicking attempts (four field goals, three extra points) through the first two games of the 2026 regular season.

Impact Szmyt provided the team with their first points of the regular season, knocking through a 26-yard field goal with 8:31 left in the third quarter. With Cleveland expected to be in for a long year, the kicker is likely on track to have limited opportunities this season.

Makes all seven kicks Thursday Szmyt converted all three of his field-goal attempts and went 4-for-4 on PAT tries in Thursday's 37-13 preseason win over the Patriots.

Impact Szmyt is the only kicker on Cleveland's roster, and the Syracuse produce rewarded the Browns' faith in him with a perfect performance Thursday. He served as the Browns' kicker for the entire 2025 regular season, converting 24 of 27 field-goal attempts. The Browns are expected to have one of the league's worst offenses again in 2026 after scoring the second-fewest points in the 2025 regular season, so Szmyt's opportunities are likely to remain limited, Thursday's busy exhibition outing notwithstanding.

Coming back to Cleveland Szmyt signed his exclusive-rights free-agent tender with the Browns on Monday.

Impact Szmyt had a successful first NFL campaign last season, converting 24 of 27 field-goal attempts (including going 5-of-6 from 50-plus yards) and 25 of 26 extra-point tries. He didn't miss a field goal following the Browns' Week 9 bye, going 14-for-14 over the team's final nine games. Szmyt will head into training camp as Cleveland's clear primary kicker.

Tendered as ERFA The Browns extended Szmyt an exclusive rights free agent tender Wednesday.

Impact Szmyt will return to Cleveland on a one-year deal for 2026, an unsurprising transaction after his solid 2025 campaign with the team. Across 17 regular-season appearances in 2025, Szmyt converted 24 of 27 field-goal attempts and 25 of 26 on extra-point tries. He projects to reprise his role as the Browns' top placekicker in 2026, though unless the team's offense can take a notable step forward under new head coach Todd Monken, it will be difficult for Szmyt to see the type of scoring opportunities required to be a difference-maker for fantasy purposes.

Overcomes shaky debut Szmyt went 24-for-27 on field-goal attempts and 25-for-26 on extra-point tries across 17 games with the Browns in 2025.

Impact Szmyt did not kick in a regular-season game in two years after joining the league in May of 2023. However, he managed beat out Dustin Hopkins for the Browns' starting kicking job for 2025 after a strong preseason. Szmyt had a shaky NFL debut against the Bengals in Week 1, when he missed a field goal and an extra-point try in a 17-16 loss. He settled down after his debut, and after the Browns' Week 9 bye, he made all 14 of his field-goal attempts (including three from 50-plus yards) and all 13 of his point-after tries across nine games. Szmyt enters the offseason as an exclusive rights free agent, meaning he'll likely kick for the Browns in 2026.
