Reverts to practice squad Martinez reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction report.
Impact With Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) and Kurtis Rourke (knee) both unavailable for Sunday's game against the Saints, Martinez was elevated to the active roster to serve as the 49ers' backup quarterback behind Mac Jones. Purdy is not expected to play Week 3 against the Cardinals, so Martinez will likely be elevated to the active roster for a second-straight week.

Strong second half Saturday Martinez completed 11 of 16 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for 13 yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.
Impact Martinez played the entire second half and put forth a strong performance, including a 24-yard touchdown pass to Stone Smartt in the third quarter.
