GAME LOG

INJURIES

Zero catches on three targets in return Mitchell failed to haul in any of his three targets during the Jets' 28-25 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
Impact Mitchell was cleared to return from a four-game absence due to a finger injury. However, the third-year pro was unable to connect with Geno Smith during Sunday's loss, and Mitchell's 26 offensive snaps were third-most among Jets wide receivers behind Garrett Wilson (50) and rookie Omar Cooper (38). Mitchell logged 15 targets through the first two games of the regular season prior to his injury, but his offensive opportunities figure to be limited while competing for targets against Wilson, Cooper and tight ends Mason Taylor and Kenyon Sadiq. The Jets will stay home for Week 8 against the Raiders, whose defense has given up the second-most passing touchdowns (16) this season.

Cleared for Week 7 return Mitchell (finger) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Impact Coming back from a four-game absence, Mitchell figures to take a lot of the snaps that went to Tim Patrick last week. What's less clear is how Mitchell's return will impact Omar Cooper, who played 82 percent of snaps in last week's 26-19 loss to the Patriots, catching six of seven targets for 103 yards and a TD in the process.

Jets' offense gets a boost as Adonai Mitchell will return vs. Dolphins, Breece Hall questionable

New York Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell will play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins after missing four games with a finger injury
OCTOBER 23 • Associated Press
Will play Sunday Jets coach Aaron Glenn said Friday that Mitchell (finger) will play Sunday against the Dolphins, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact After missing the Jets' last four games, Mitchell will return to the lineup for New York's divisional matchup with Miami. It's unclear at this point what Mitchell's return to the lineup will mean for rookie Omar Cooper, as the two have been healthy and available for a total of five snaps this season. The Dolphins have been good against opposing wide receivers, mainly because other teams have just been able to run on them voluminously in positive game scripts.

Another limited practice Mitchell (finger) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Impact After returning to limited work Wednesday, Mitchell logged another limited session Thursday as he works back from the finger injury. His status for the Jets' next game still appears unresolved, but back-to-back limited practices at least keep him in the mix for a potential return.

Jets WR Adonai Mitchell returns for limited practice as he works toward comeback from finger surgery

New York Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell returned to practice on a limited basis as he recovers from a finger injury
OCTOBER 21 • Associated Press
Returning to practice in limited fashion Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that Mitchell (finger) will be a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Impact Mitchell will take part in practice for the first time since Week 3, after missing the Jets' last four games due to an injury to a finger on his right hand that he ultimately needed surgery to address. While the wideout's return to practice in any fashion is an encouraging sign, he may need to turn in a full session by Friday in order for the Jets to feel confident in his chances of suiting up Sunday versus the Dolphins. If Mitchell winds up missing a fifth consecutive game, rookie first-round pick Omar Cooper would likely continue to enjoy an expanded profile in the New York passing game behind top target Garrett Wilson.

Jets WR Omar Cooper Jr. coming off IR, TE Kenyon Sadiq back from concussion for banged-up offense

OCTOBER 16 • Associated Press
Ruled out for Sunday's game Mitchell (finger) has been ruled out for Sunday's game, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact Mitchell will miss a third straight game and hasn't practiced at all the past two weeks. Tim Patrick and Isaiah Williams took most of the WR snaps alongside Garrett Wilson last week, but rookie Omar Cooper (IR - ankle) may soon throw his hat into the ring.

Misses another practice Mitchell (finger) didn't practice Thursday.
Impact Mitchell has yet to resume practicing in any capacity since Sept. 25 and is viewed as week-to-week after recently undergoing what head coach Aaron Glenn termed as a small procedure on his hand. Following Friday's practice, the wideout will likely be officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Patriots, which will mark his fourth consecutive absence.

Jets' Mitchell had 'small procedure' to repair injured finger, rookie Cooper's practice window open

New York Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell recently had a procedure on his hand to fix an injured finger
OCTOBER 14 • Associated Press
Undergoes hand procedure, still week-to-week Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Wednesday that Mitchell (finger) underwent a small procedure on his hand and remains week-to-week, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Impact Glenn notes that Mitchell is able to move his fingers around well following the procedure, but the fact that the wideout is still being classified as week-to-week suggests that he's tracking toward a fourth consecutive absence Sunday at New England. Though Mitchell appears likely to sit out this weekend, the Jets could get some reinforcement to their receiver corps in the form of rookie first-round pick Omar Cooper (ankle), who had his 21-day practice window opened Wednesday and could be a candidate to return from injured reserve for Sunday's game.

OCTOBER 9 • THEJETPRESS.COM
Officially ruled out for Week 5 Mitchell (finger) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact Mitchell will miss his third straight game, and coach Aaron Glenn refused to provide any clarity on the situation Friday, saying he "doesn't know" if Mitchell is dealing with a sprain or fracture, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. With Mitchell out again, Isaiah Williams and Sterlin Shepard will continue to soak up wideout snaps behind Garrett Wilson. Neither Williams nor Shepard is a particularly intriguing fantasy option.
