Impact Taylor was added to the injury report Thursday with the ankle injury and was considered questionable, but he'll suit up for Sunday's contest. The 30-year-old has mostly played special teams over the past two games and should fill a similar role versus Washington.

Activated for Week 14 Taylor (groin) was activated off the Panthers' injured reserve Saturday, Will Bryan of the team's official website reports.

Impact Taylor was placed on IR on Nov. 11 after suffering a groin injury. Prior to that, he recorded 11 tackles on defense and one on special teams. He is once again expected to help provide depth at linebacker.

Impact The Florida Atlantic product was placed on injured reserve Nov. 11, but it appears his return may be on the horizon. Carolina now has 21 days to either move Taylor back onto the active roster or designate him for season-ending IR. In nine 2020 appearances pre-injury, Taylor compiled 14 tackles and one tackle for loss in a role that consisted primarily of special-teams work.

Impact It's unclear as to the reason for his placement on IR, as Taylor has accumulated 14 tackles (nine solo) in nine games while limited to mostly a special teams role. Taylor will need to reside on IR for at least three weeks, which leaves Jermaine Carter and Julian Stanford as the team's only healthy depth linebackers on the roster currently.

Set to start Sunday Taylor is slated to start at outside linebacker Sunday against the Chiefs following news that Jeremy Chinn (knee) has been ruled out, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.

Impact While Taylor is the formal starter, coach Matt Rhule relayed Sunday that it will take a group effort to replace Chinn's contributions. Chinn consistently lines up at strong-side linebacker and strong safety, and he's in the mix for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Taylor likely will play a majority of the defensive snaps still, but Julian Stanford and Jermaine Carter could rotate in, too.

Impact Taylor previously signed with Carolina as an undrafted free agent back in 2014, making this his second stint with the team. The 29-year-old will provide the Panthers with linebacker depth and he could contribute on special teams.
