Sits out opener
Finney-Smith (coach's decision) did not play in Atlanta's 132-125 win over Orlando on Wednesday.
Impact
The veteran forward was left out of the Hawks' rotation in their first regular-season contest. He'll need to carve out a consistent role before becoming a reliable fantasy contributor.

Back in action
Finney-Smith (rest) will play in Monday's preseason game against the Thunder, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Impact
Finney-Smith rested Saturday but will be back in action Monday and should play a major role with most of Atlanta's regulars sidelined. The veteran forward has been a solid defender and floor spacer in his career, but he struggled mightily, mostly due to injuries, during his brief tenure with the Rockets. In Atlanta, Finney-Smith will compete for a reserve role, limiting his fantasy appeal.

Resting Saturday
Finney-Smith (rest) is out for Saturday's exhibition against the Pacers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Impact
The 33-year-old veteran won't suit up for Saturday's exhibition, but he should be back in action for Monday's preseason game against the Thunder. Finney-Smith will provide some emergency depth at the forward spots for the Hawks, but he's not expected to have a significant role in the rotation while the team is at full strength.

Traded to Atlanta
The Hornets traded Finney-Smith to the Hawks on Tuesday in exchange for Buddy Hield and Ryan Nembhard, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Impact
Finney-Smith has now been traded twice this offseason after the Rockets shipped him to the Hornets in a salary dump move. The veteran forward has been a solid defender and floor spacer in his career, but he struggled mightily, mostly due to injuries, during his brief tenure with the Rockets. In Atlanta, Finney-Smith will compete for a reserve role, limiting his fantasy appeal.

Traded to Charlotte
The Rockets are trading Finney-Smith to the Hornets along with three second-round picks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Impact
This is a pure salary dump by the Rockets. Finney-Smith is coming off a down season, but he has a strong track record of being a plus defender and floor spacer. Presumably, the Hornets will be eyeing him as a potential rotation player off the bench.

Scoreless in eight minutes
Finney-Smith registered zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) across eight minutes during Friday's 98-78 loss to the Lakers in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Impact
Finney-Smith was used sparingly during his first campaign with the Rockets, and injuries limited him to 37 regular-season appearances. He averaged just 3.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists, shooting 33.3 percent from the field in 16.8 minutes per contest.

Exits rotation Friday
Finney-Smith (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Friday in the Rockets' 119-109 win over the Grizzlies.
Impact
Since completing his recovery from offseason left ankle surgery and making his Rockets debut Dec. 25, Finney-Smith has failed to rediscover his shooting touch. The 10th-year forward has converted at a lowly 31.7 percent rate from the field and 26.9 percent from three-point range over his 35 appearances, and his continued shooting struggles appear to have resulted in him falling out of the rotation. Head coach Ime Udoka turned to Tari Eason and Jae'Sean Tate to play reserve minutes at forward Friday while Finney-Smith and Josh Okogie were both phased out.

Fails to score Monday
Finney-Smith recorded zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and two rebounds across eight minutes during Monday's 132-124 loss to Chicago.
Impact
Finney-Smith continues to offer very little in terms of tangible production, having scored no more than five points in 11 of his past 13 appearances. While he does provide Houston with a solid veteran presence, his ability to have an impact on the court is not what it once was. In 34 games this season, he has averaged just 3.1 points in 17.2 minutes.
