Impact Leclerc would roll off P2 on the starting grid after Lewis Hamilton's 3-spot grid penalty. He would start on soft tyres and get off the line slowly at the lights out. Leclerc would slip to P5 by the end of lap 1. From there, it would be a constant fight to regain lost ground. Leclerc would run an isolated race and unable to challenge the leaders. He would cross the finish line in fifth-place but promote to P4 after Hamilton's 5-second penalty for speeding in pit lane.

Impact Despite suffering a late-session issue that would bring his Ferrari to a stop, Leclerc would turn in a lap of 1:19.075 of the Hungarian circuit. He would beat out Verstappen by a half-second to lead this opening session. His Ferrari team will sort out what happened to bring Leclerc's car to a stop but it is encouraging to see him lead the FP1 pace for this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Runner-up in Belgian Grand Prix Leclerc finished second in the Belgian Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit on Sunday afternoon.

Impact The Ferrari star started fourth on the grid and quickly entered into a battle with Max Verstappen for P2. He would secure that spot and then battle with Oscar Piastri on lap 8. The two would make contract with Piastri receiving damage from the incident. Leclerc would continue on and gamble on a long opening stint. A lap 20 VSC would give him a perfect opportunity to pit and lose very little time. That would put Leclerc in the lead until lap 34 when Kimi Antonelli would run him down late. Leclerc would finish 2-seconds back with an impressive runner-up finish at Spa.

Wins British Grand Prix Leclerc won the British Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Silverstone Circuit on Sunday afternoon.

Impact Leclerc snapped a 37-race winless streak with a supreme performance Sunday at Silverstone. The Ferrari star would make a great launch at the lights out and would get around Kimi Antonelli for the lead. That would set the tone for the day in the British GP. Leclerc would fall under threat from Antonelli late the race but the Mercedes youngster would suffer a wheel shield failure that would hamper his pace. Leclerc would then cruise to the finish that would occur under the safety car due to Max Verstappen's late-race spin into the gravel at Stowe.

Fade at Red Bull Ring Leclerc finished eighth in the Austrian Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg on Sunday afternoon.

Impact Despite a P2 start on the grid, Leclerc would experience all types of problems Sunday in Spielberg. He would battle tyre overheating and severe tyre degradation throughout the event. it was so bad that he would actually execute a three-stop strategy due to tyre wear. Those problems would be compounded by mid-race contact with Oscar Piastri and front wing damage to Leclerc's Ferrari. Leclerc could not recover and would fade to P8 by the checkered flag.

JUNE 29 • ROTOWIRE

Mechanical Failure Leclerc suffered a mechanical failure and finished 15th in the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix F1 race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday.

Impact A mistake in the final round of qualifying would put Leclerc P10 on the starting grid. The Ferrari star would begin his drive through the field right after the lights out. The opening lap would see him climb to P7 in a strong charge to the front. Leclerc would look set to collect a strong sixth-place finish, however, his Ferrari would lose hydraulics on lap 62 and he would become the last retirement of the day in Barcelona. Leclerc will look to rebound next round out in Austria.

JUNE 15 • ROTOWIRE

Crash and DNF in Monaco Leclerc crashed and finished 17th in the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 race at The Circuit de Monaco on Sunday afternoon.

Impact Leclerc would suffer a big heartbreak in Monaco on Sunday afternoon. He would start fourth on the grid and quickly move into podium position as Max Verstappen failed to start on the opening lap. Leclerc would still be holding down podium position later in the race but the restart after the Lance Stroll crash would see Leclerc lock up and fail to exit the final corner, nosing hard into the barriers. The Ferrari's brakes failed and ended Leclerc's day with a DNF in Monaco.

Despite the two red-flag stoppages, Ferrari was able to fly high and out-duel both Mercedes and McLaren for the top of the time sheets. Leclerc would finish with a lap of 1:13.978 and that would be two-tenths clear of Hamilton for fastest of the session. Leclerc looks intent on challenging for the win this weekend in Monaco.

Extension with Ferrari Ferrari have announced a new multi-year agreement with Leclerc that will see the Monegasque race in red for "the coming seasons", Formula1.com reports.

Impact Leclerc has had plenty of success since joining the Scuderia in 2019. He has noteworthy wins at Monza and Monaco and he's now second for most team appearances behind Michael Schumacher. The team inked Leclerc to a new multi-year deal with the goal still being an eventual world championship. The 28-year-old driver still has a lot of good racing ahead of him and Ferrari made sure it will happen for them.

Leclerc would run below pace in the final 15 laps just to keep control of his ill-handling car. He would be rewarded with P4 and 12 points for his diligent efforts.

The Ferrari star would be in contention for a podium spot late but he would spin and make contact with the wall on the final lap. Leclerc would nurse his car to the checkered flag in P6 but he would receive a post-race 20-second time penalty for track limits on the final lap. That would drop him in the classification to a disappointing P8.

Impact With the extended layoff, most teams brought a host of upgrades to Miami this round. The team's used the longer opening practice as a means to shakedown and assess the upgrades. Leclerc's benchmark lap of 1:29.310 set the pace and was three-tenths ahead of Verstappen. Both Ferrari's looked to have good pace in this opening session, so Leclerc should be hopeful to challenge for the podium Sunday in Miami.

Impact Leclerc would get a good launch at the lights out and get around both Mercedes drivers initially. The Ferrari star would pit early on lap 17 in an undercut attempt of the other leaders. However, the crash and safety car for Oliver Bearman a few laps later would negate that undercut. Leclerc would drop to P5 after the safety car and would do a great job battling back to achieve third-place and the podium by the checkered flag.

Leclerc would pull his way back up to P3 by lap 28 and ride there the rest of the way. He couldn't track down the faster Mercedes but he would keep Hamilton at his rear for a brilliant third-place finish and podium to start the season.

However, it would soon become apparent that Ferrari has the early pace. Leclerc would set the fastest lap on a few occasions. By the end of this opening session he'd record a lap of 1:20.267 which would be four-tenths better than Hamilton and five-tenths faster than Verstappen. Leclerc looks like a strong contender for the win Sunday in Australia.
