Getting regular action
Flores will serve as the Giants' designated hitter and will bat sixth Sunday against the Athletics, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Flores will draw his sixth consecutive start and seems to have at least temporarily emerged as manager Gabe Kapler's preferred designated hitter. The 29-year-old has produced six hits over his last two games, raising his season average to .307.

Posts four-hit performance
Flores went 4-for-5 with a run scored in Friday's loss to Oakland.
Impact
Flores entered Friday's contest in a 1-for-17 slump, but he broke out in a big way with a four-hit performance. The utility man is hitting .286 with a .794 OPS, two home runs and three RBI in 42 at-bats this month.

Late lineup addition
Flores will bat third as the designated hitter Wednesday at Houston.
Impact
The 29-year-old wasn't included in the Giants' initial starting nine, but he'll enter the lineup with Austin Slater (undisclosed) a late scratch. Flores has a .270/.299/.492 slash line with four homers and nine RBI this season.

Back on bench
Flores is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
Flores was included in the lineup in each of the team's last four games, but the Giants faced three lefty starters during that stretch. As a result, Flores should still be viewed as a short-side platoon player at this stage, relegating his usefulness mostly to NL-only leagues.

Homers, doubles in loss
Flores went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double during Friday's loss to the Dodgers.
Impact
Flores hit a solo shot off Dennis Santana in the sixth inning, then swatted a two-out double off Joe Kelly in the eighth. The 29-year-old now has three long balls and a pair of doubles on the season while slashing .320/.340/.540 across 13 games.

Pops go-ahead, three-run homer
Flores went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, two total runs scored and a walk in Friday's 9-2 win over the Rangers.
Impact
Flores' go-ahead homer off Rangers starter Mike Minor in the fifth inning gave the Giants a lead they would not relinquish. Batting second and manning first base, Flores later drew a walk and scored on a Donovan Solano single in the seventh. With the Giants' infield fully healthy, Flores may be limited to a utility role. He's batting .300 with two homers, six RBI and three runs scored in 32 plate appearances this season.

Cranks out four hits
Solano went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 12-7 extra-inning loss to the Padres.
Impact
Three of Solano's four hits were doubles, including one of the run-scoring variety in the seventh inning. He added the game-tying run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Solano has hit safely in five straight games (10-for-19) with a homer, nine RBI, four doubles and three runs scored. The 32-year-old infielder is still expected to make most of his starts versus southpaws, but his recent success could earn him more general playing time over the likes of Mauricio Dubon and Wilmer Flores.

Cranks solo shot Saturday
Flores went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Dodgers.
Impact
Flores went deep against Dodgers starter Alex Wood in the third inning. Through three games, Flores has gone 4-for-12 (.333) to start the year. The 28-year-old batted third in the order after being in the two-hole for the first two contests. He's likely to get regular playing time in the infield, mostly at second and third base, at least until Evan Longoria (oblique) returns.

Will start season on injured list
Manager Gabe Kapler said Monday that Belt (heel) won't be ready for Opening Day, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact
Belt had been dealing with right heel pain throughout camp, and Kapler confirmed Monday that the 32-year-old will begin the season on the injured list as he continues to recover. While he'll miss the first several games of the regular season, it remains to be seen exactly how much time he'll miss as a result of the injury. With Belt and Evan Longoria (oblique) sidelined, Wilmer Flores and Pablo Sandoval (elbow) could see an uptick in playing time to begin the year.

Nursing moderate oblique strain
Longoria has a moderate right oblique strain, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury Newsreports.
Impact
The veteran third baseman injured his right oblique while swinging. Manager Gabe Kapler isn't certain Longoria or Brandon Belt (heel) will be ready for Opening Day. Pablo Sandoval and Wilmer Flores will likely see an uptick in playing time if either slugger is unable to play during the beginning of the season. Longoria had a rough spring, going just 5-for-25, and is coming off a .254/.325/.437 showing with 69 RBI across 508 plate appearances in 2019.
