Jacob Young - Checking back into lineup Young (side) will start in center field and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Phillies.
Impact Young will check back into the starting nine after a one-game absence due to right side discomfort, an injury he picked up after colliding with the outfield wall while making a catch Saturday. The 26-year-old has provided three stolen bases through 14 games this month, but he's offered little production in the other four major rotisserie categories (.213 average, one home run, six runs and three RBI).

Jake Irvin - Resuming mound work Tuesday Irvin (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.
Impact It will be the first time the righty hurler has thrown off the mound since he was shelved by a right shoulder strain in late May. Irvin has found more swings and misses this season for the Nationals with 58 strikeouts over 51.2 innings, but he's posted a 5.23 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. He will likely need at least one rehab start before rejoining the Nationals' active roster.

DJ Herz - Diagnosed with flexor strain Herz (elbow) has been diagnosed with a left flexor strain, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.
Impact It's a significant setback for Herz, who has been working his way back from April 2025 Tommy John surgery. The left-hander posted a 1.17 ERA, 0.52 WHIP and 11:0 K:BB in 7.2 innings covering his first three rehab starts, potentially setting him up for activation around the All-Star break. Now, Herz is out indefinitely.

Taylor Walls - Taking seat Monday Walls is not in the lineup for Monday's tilt against the Royals.
Impact The Rays will go with Ben Williamson at shortstop in the series opener. Walls had started each of the previous six contests.

Hunter Feduccia - Absent from lineup Feduccia is absent from the lineup for Monday's game versus the Royals.
Impact Righty Michael Wacha starts for the Royals and is better against lefties, which at least partly explains why the lefty-swinging Feduccia is not in the lineup. Nick Fortes will do the catching for the Rays.
